I use English WIN 7 64 bit and FSX just started to use FSFS 2011 and have a common problem it seems, I have generated runways but it tells me I am off the surface? Distance from runway threshold (visual approach): [51 feet] * Glideslope held until flare. * Good pitch control after touchdown. * Good pitch at landing. * With flaps - good job. * Heading aligned with runway. * Throttle(s) idle. * Good controlled final descent to touchdown. * Good steering after landing. Landing included the following problems: * Poor alignment with runway on visual approach - line up and stay there. [0%] * Landed off runway surface.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with FSFS2011. Have a read of my post 'Poor Landing Scores'.

Hi - Sorry to hear about the problem. A very small number of users have reported this problem and we are working hard to find a pattern that links them. In the meantime, if you land on the runway surface, just ignore the "off runway" message and mentally award yourself an extra 50 points, which is what the instructor deducted for this. We expect to have a solution very soon and will of course announce it here and offer a new update to FSFS to solve the issue. Users will then just download and install over the existing version and the issue will be solved.

Just a little more information, when I generate the runways all goes well and reports all generated OK and the button is grayed out but if I exit and go back the button is back and I can do it all over again? Not sure if this helps you?

One more item when I hold my pointer over the generate runway data for FSX I get a box that says (Click here to generate FSFS2009 runway data for FSX) I would have expected FSFS2011? This is also true for the other two options 2002 and 2004 which I do not have installed on this computer. FYI

I can help you with this one pm14040. The possibility to make runways always comes back when you start FSFS, because if you ever install new addon scenery that includes runway changes, you need to create the runways again to have it correct in FSFS.
Happy New Year

Ole that would make sense except I have not made any changes I can generate the runway data, button dark, data tells me all was generated OK then close the program and reopen it and the Generate button is back like nothing was ever done.

Yes and it will, every time you start the program. Because FSFS does NOT know if you made any changes to your flightsim, so it will always be ready to make a new runways file.
This does not mean that nothing was ever done - just that IF you made any changes since last time you used FSFS, the make runways button is ready for action again.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Ole I did not remember that button coming back in the last version and thought it might have a connection with my landing off the runway surface.

Are you guys still looking for more data on this - potential customer here and I have the same issue with the demo of FSFS2011 in the demo area.
(Actually, returning customer after 2 years (?) so I know the basic drill of doing stuff.)
Haven't found any airport yet where it worked - KETB, 9WN3, among others.
I'm also using Ground Environment X USA/Canada - should I try removing it and regenerating FSFS database afterwards?
