I've got a 4 inch refractor

Hi Guys

S/L, well, i have never heard it called that before, not exactly bragging rights though

I too am a bit of a star gazer, seam's most things that aspire me, are above and beyond my head. I live in Northern Australia's Tropical Belt. The sky here is crystal 360 days of the year, more so in the winter months. We do not have a street light less than 30 Km away, and the nearest township is over 50 Km away. I also live at a high elevation, more so when flying fsx. The sky show is a pyrotechnics display most nights, and a set of binocs & small telescope is a local community standard.

Thanks for the feedback S/L, 13' short of a circuit score eh, ill have another go on the weekend ? It has just dorned on me, the throttle thing may have something to do with the spool down modeling of the A2A, perhaps if i come back on the throttle a bit early'r, doesn't explain the contradictory report though ?

Great software, anyone flying fsx without it, is definately missing out. I thought i was a good pilot until i invited Mr Smith along. Please keep up the good work, look forward to the edge polish on the A2A ?

I see, your 4" refractor is dimensions across , well, that is worth boasting about.

Cheers

Hi Guys

Ho ho!

>> I too am a bit of a star gazer, seam's most things that aspire me, are above and beyond my head. I live in Northern Australia's Tropical Belt. Wow - I would like to see that sky! Must be amazing.
I'm on the edge of a very small town with countryside beyond and the sky is pretty clear - not like yours, but I can see Alcor without difficulty.

In addition to the 4 inch instrument I also have a pair of 20 x 80 binoculars which are marvellous and delight my guests.

>> Thanks for the feedback S/L, 13' short of a circuit score eh, ill have another go on the weekend ? I see exactly what you are saying, but again it should be one or the other from FSFS.

>> Great software, anyone flying fsx without it, is definately missing out. I thought i was a good pilot until i invited Mr Smith along. Please keep up the good work, look forward to the edge polish on the A2A ?

Many thanks for the kind words - please repeat them all over the web in as many places as possible!

We'll solve the loose ends for the A2A c172 and hope to publish the update shortly.

>> I see, your 4" refractor is dimensions across , well, that is worth boasting about.

Yes - It's a big rascal. Jupiter's cloud belts and of course Galilean moons show up nicely as do the rings of Saturn. The Moon itself is breathtaking.

Squadron Leader,

>> There is way too much light pollution here. I live in Chicago's western suburbs. I wish I could have a telescope. I would have to drive a long way to get away from the lights.

Understood.

>> Science is my religion so naturally scientists are my heros, (along with pilots and astronauts).

Excellent! I'm a sucker for space exploration too - I put it down to the Apollo Programme and Gerry Anderson.

>> I retired from Police work last July and it's great having more time to sim. I would like to go back to work on getting a private pilots license or even a sport pilot rating, but my wife is hindering my aspirations.

All pilots need to explain to their spouses that a pilot's license means - erm... - think of all the lovely places we can go together!

Here is an odd twist. Yesterday I was doing my pre-flight checks while my A2A Cessna was warming up. Mr Smith acknowledged my aileron check as expected. I then went outside the plane to look at the tail and check the rest of the flight surfaces. When I moved the tail, Mr Smith unexpectedly announced, "Rudder Check Complete". I then tried to get the same for the elevator, but no joy. That is the one and only time Mr Smith noticed the rudder check. Why mention this? Well I thought it might provide a small hint for a possible solution. I'm getting used to being chastised for not pulling the throttle all the way back, but consider that a bigger issue than the checks.

After reading this back, I was reminded of the Monty Python sketch about the dirty fork. "You bastards! You vicious, heartless bastards! Look what you've done to him! He's worked his fingers to the bone to make this place what it is, and you come in with your petty feeble quibbling and you grind him into the dirt, this fine, honourable man, whose boots you are not worthy to kiss. Oh... it makes me mad... mad!"

Had the same experience with the rudder, but from the inside. It was only a one off, and has not happened again since.I was performing a really tight turn with full rudder, and differential braking at the time ?

Hi FSXCOP:

Many thanks for your feedback - always invaluable - the more we have the better job we can do - and faster too.

We're looking into the rudder and elevator on the A2A of course, but this gives a glimmer of hope to being able to read them, rather than have to ignore them.

And thank you SO much for the Python quote! It is rather fitting!

Squadron Leader,

More feeble petty quibbling about your hard work. I had a single flight that recently that didn't fault the use of the throttle with the A2A Cessna and I wanted to show you that somehow FSFS behaved well with the add-on. I looked to my right and I thought I saw Mr Smith smile! It was a splendid flight!

Hi FSXCOP:

Excellent work! As always, thanks for the feedback.

Reading the throttle on this bird is a tricky business - it looks like we may be getting a reading which is based on the RPM (?) rather than the throttle position which is what we are asking FSX for.

Glad to hear that the plane can be flown with satisfaction with FSFS PRO 2013. We continue to work on the resolution of loose ends and hope to have an announcement of the same soon.

Avsim published an extensive review of the A2A Cessna and I added a comment mentioning FSFlyingSchool. I still fly the A2A Cessna exclusively and always with Mr Smith. The combination of the two is quite immersive and hopefully more flight simmers will appreciate your fine program. Merry Christmas Flight Leader.
