Hi FSXCOP:

Excellent result and thanks so much for mentioning it over on the A2A site - it all helps get the word out and is much appreciated.

Good news - we've been working away on several points on which FSFS was not getting the information it needed from FSX for the A2A c172R, but we have solved them and are about to finish testing and publish an updated version of FSFS PRO 2013 for FSX - this will be version 6.4.3. (We will also, soon, publish a similar updated version for P3D).

As soon as this occurs I will announce it here and on the A2A site!

Hi Folks:

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement!

Good news - we have released the new version with A2A c172 Trainer support!

The bonus news is that it is supported at the level of our 'detail packs' which means that you don't just get to go flying with FSFlyingSchool - you get to go flying with an instructor who knows the c172 in some specific detail.

The new version is here (download the demo).

Existing registered owners of FSFS PRO 2013 for FSX/FS2004 can simply download the new demo (v 6.4.3) from our site and install into their existing folder - this has the effect of updating their installed, registered version.

Newcomers to FSFS PRO 2013 for FSX/FS2004 can download the new demo (v 6.4.3) from our site and install into a new folder and enjoy the free demo.

I urge anyone interested to please try the free demo first so that you can make certain that you are satisfied with your experience before making a purchase.

Please let me know what you think!

Have a great weekend!

Hi S/L

Whilst flying i circuit mode with the A2A Cessna, i am receiving conflicting instructions from Mr Smith. He is aware that i am doing circuits as he is briefing me regarding the legs. However, he is consistently informing me that i shouldn't be descending during takeoff (right up until touchdown). He also does not recognize throttle idle, despite re-calibration my hardware and trying with keyboard only (all indicators show throttle to be 0%).

Cheers

Rotor

Hi Rotor:

No problem - from what you have described I think I can see the issue.

'Circuit mode' is always overlapped on top of and exists at the same time as 'flight mode'.

The instructor thinks you are still in a flight mode of 'take off' as you have not indicated that you are not.

This can be detected automatically if you level off, but it is better to control it manually yourself - just like using a stick shift in a car rather than automatic.

Flight mode is advanced by pressing Ctrl Shift Z or by issuing the voice command "We are cruising". Please see the manual for lots of details and let me know how you get on!

I will look at the throttle - we tested for this and it looks OK here - I imagine you are reporting that the instructor says it was "not idle at touchdown"? Is that the specific point?

I too am hearing Mr Smith telling me that my throttle needs to be pulled back to idle for landing and in each instance, it most certainly is pulled all the way back. I have not flown circuits with the A2A 172, but I am happy with short flights with an ILS approach. Thanks for the work that you put into updating for the plane.

Hi FSXCOP:

We're looking into this - thanks for your report - the more data we have the better.

Can you tell me - are you using a throttle controller and if so what?

Hello Squadron Leader. I just finished a flight and I can once again confirm the throttle was pulled all the way back at touch down. Mr Smith reported otherwise. I just purchased this set up and it's great. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/cessnayoke.html I also purchased the rudder pedals. There is a negative dent for reverse engines on the Saitek throttle, but I stop short of that throttle position. I am convinced that the problem is exclusive to the A2A C172. The Microsoft C172 doesn't have the same result. Thanks for your attention!

Hi FSXCOP:

Thanks for the data!

'Rotor' reported that the problem was there even when using the keyboard as the controller - and we are hot on the trail of a solution.

It is not due to your controller for sure, which I am sure is splendid - it's the way that FSFS interprets the data it gets from FSX about the A2A c172 - this, in general, was the whole issue with the new plane and why we needed to create a new version of FSFS to make it all work.

At present, MrSmith et al will mention it after landing and will deduct a few points for it from your score - but although a minor irritant, it does not make a huge difference to the whole experience. Nevertheless - we are, as I said, busy in our sinister lab and hot on the trail of a solution.

Hi S/L

Thanks you very much for your response. Concerning throttle at idle issue, noticed that the default idle rpm is 500 and the A2A is 700.Perhaps this may vary due to the accessories available with the A2A (prop etc,I am using the default A2A at the moment though). Couple of minor things, Mr smith acknowledges aileron check but not elevator or rudder ? I am using the Saitek X65f by the way. I have a Saitek proflight yoke, it is very sticky and has an awful dead zone, despite lube & mods, so i choose not to use it (hope the Cessna yoke works out for you FSXCOP) ?

Cheers Rotor

Yes RotorWash, I too hear Mr Smith acknowledge the aileron check, but he remains quiet after I have checked the elevator and rudder. Like the throttle problem, not very serious I suppose. For some reason I do miss it. If a real life flight instructor kept repeating that the checks were complete every flight, I would probably want a change of instructors! I have enjoyed using the Saitek Cessna flight yoke. It works very well especially with the Cessna rudder pedals. Very expensive, but it really has added to the simulation experience. Many thanks to the code writers at FSFlyingSchool for producing a great product.
