I have unchecked the failures box but still it seem that every flight with the default Cessna 172 ends with failures like engine on fire. I have the Cessna detailpack and FSFS 2011.
Since failures are disabled I wouldn't expect any. In addition to that the instructor doesn't seem to understand what is happening. For example my engine caught fire shortly after takeoff and I was told to cut the fuel which I did. Then the instructor told me that we shouldn't lose altitude during takeoff. What does he expect if the engine is on fire and the fuel cutoff? Continue the flight as if nothing has happened it seems.

Hi -

Is the Voice Pack set so that you have to use the "5" key to turn comms on and off, or is the "mike" open the whole time?

Can you change to use the "5" mode and test if you still get the engine fires?

I am a beginner and I have the same problem : failures at every flights with CESSNA, even when the failure box is unchecked in pilot page ! (Engine fires too...) . I use Voice command with "5" key ( but I keep the key "on" almost eveytime and I don't cut the microphone after speaking). Can you help me to understand my problem ?

Thanks.

Exactally my problem!! Im relieved to know its not only me.
Crash and burn everytime with failures OFF! I use the 5 key for mic, so no false bird strike requests or anything.
Whats up with this? Renders FsFs useless!
Lets get this bug fixed fast!

Hi -

To all on this topic, a question - when the fire starts - do you hear loud bang and feel the plane jolt to the side?

This is the effect of the bird strike which you can ask for with the Voice Pack.

Now I know that you are not asking for the bird strike, but background (audio) noise could be triggering it.

What I am trying to establish is if the engine merely catches fire - or if there are also other effects, at the time the problem starts.

We are trying to establish the cause of this issue for you folks - this is a very uncommon problem.
