I have recently upgraded from Flying School 2011 to Pro (FSX), and have come across a problem with Flap usage detection.

One of the main features I upgraded for was the new approach functionality enabling me to start 3 miles out from my local airport. When using the approach functionality, when extending flaps, Miss Aviatrix constantly nags "Use flaps if you intend to land"......... I am using flaps !!! Even worse she marks me down for not using flaps. If however, if I start a flight normally and then connect to FSX, flap use is detected correctly and I get a suitable warning such as "You're cruising with the flaps down"

I am using Saitek Pro Flight Yoke and Throttle Quadrant, with flaps configured as a button on the throttle quadrant; and a Carenado 152 aircraft.

I had no issues with this set up in v2011, the problems only started with Pro with the introduction of the Approach functionality

Is anyone else experiencing these problems ??

Could you try using Mr Smith and see if you still get the problem?

We'll look into it in the mean time...

The same problems exists with Mr Smith, even though flaps have been lowered, I still get the message "Lower flaps if you intend to land" all the way through "Final".

Thanks for your feedback. We're still looking into what might cause this...

No problem, I've already logged FSUIPC and can confirm that all events are being captured irrespective of repeat times. Let me know if I can help as not only am I currently training as a pilot, but I also have 20 years experience writing software, and I run a software and consulting company.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep you posted on our progress and when we've got something for you to test.

In the mean time can you post a screenshot of your "Aircraft" page in FSFlyingSchool Pro (when connected to the Carenado 152 in FSX)

Thanks for the screenshot.

Making the windows text size larger really screws up the FSFlyingSchool labels! I'll also put that on the list of things to look into!

John..... my text size is actually set at the smallest setting (100%) on Win 7, as I use some pretty large screens. I noticed its a VB program so it's easy enough to update the rendering of fonts to dynamic sizing..... much easier than searching through code trying to find the flaps issue.....lol

Hi -

We cannot seem to reproduce this here with FSFS Pro, FSX, Win 7 and the Carenado c152 II.

Could you try this same situation with a different aircraft and report the results?

Also - can you try this when you are flying the c152 normally - not using the "On Approach" feature?

Just trying to get more data so we can home in on the specific issue.
