Hi,
I have sent also an email with a screenprint, but will repeat it here, in case other users face similar problems:
Exact Windows version: W7 64bit, home premium
Exact Flight Simulator version: FSX Accelerator
Exact FSUIPC version: 4.600a
Is FSUIPC registered? (It does not need to be, but we need to know if it is). no
PC RAM (Main memory) 16gb
PC Processor i7 860
PC Video Card nvidia gtx 260
Names of any other Flight Sim add-ons running at the same time. none
Names of any other software applications running at the same time - we ask this because a number of programs such as Snag-It and Camtasia may conflict with key mapping. track-ir

Is FSFlyingSchool using your system's default sound card or has a specific sound card been selected?
You can find this out by looking in the settings section/tab.

Hi,
the sound card is set to Default.
I am using an Integrated high definition 7.1 channel audio (Realtek) on a Dell XPS 8100.
Strangely FSFS 2010 (and 2009) works for a while, sometimes through the whole flight, but not always. It seems it could be related to ATC, because there is sometimes a break up in ATC meaning ATC voice is gone, though the message is displayed in the ATC window.
Thanks for looking into it...

Some questions and suggestions: 1. Look at the FSFS Settings screen. If you have more than one sound device listed - try using a different device. 2. Have you altered any sound config settings in FSX? 3. Are you using any USB sound hardware? 4. Which application plays WAV files on your PC? Test this by double clicking on some of the WAV files in the FSFS folder (location may differ on your PC): C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Sound\MrSmith 5. Any problems playing the files that way? 6. We recommend that the following method be used: i) FSX and FSUIPC and FSFS all installed by the same user ii) That user has administrator privilages on the PC iii) That user launches FSX abd FSFS each session Is this the case on your PC?

Hi, thanks for following up:
Some questions and suggestions:
1. Look at the FSFS Settings screen. If you have more than one sound device listed - try using a different device.
--> if I use other devices none of the Instructors can be heard
2. Have you altered any sound config settings in FSX?
--> nope
3. Are you using any USB sound hardware?
--> nope, only Saitek headset in speaker jack
4. Which application plays WAV files on your PC? Test this by double clicking on some of the WAV files in the FSFS folder (location may differ on your PC):
C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\Sound\MrSmith
--> Windows Media Player 12.00076000
5. Any problems playing the files that way?
--> nope, just fine
6. We recommend that the following method be used:
i) FSX and FSUIPC and FSFS all installed by the same user --> done
ii) That user has administrator privilages on the PC --> yes
iii) That user launches FSX abd FSFS each session --> yes
Is this the case on your PC? -->
Again, FSFS 2010 works for a while and crashes as soon as an AI pilot comes on ATC, it seems.

Thanks for the detailed feedback!
Another user experienced a similar problem and the following solution was proposed:
Biggles said:
Go to Windows, System, Hardware Devices, and make sure the Sound Card is 'ok' (no yellow or red marks)
Then Control Panel, Sound, and see that the device is 'default'
Finally, in FS/x make sure the same sound device is selected.
I had a 'similar' issue when I plugged in my USB headset.
I had to use the 'Realtek' wizard to get it to work with Windows,
before FS/x would use it properly.
I'm just an FS FlyingSchool user, and it's AWESOME - so I hope you get your sound issue resolved.

Finally if this makes no difference, could you try using FSFlyingSchool2010 with no sound as a test? Simply check "Disable Sound" in the "Sound Setup" section of the Pilots tab.

Hi,
unfortunately, the proposed solutions did not help. I have tried all different combinations of settings in my Control Panel / Sound and in FSFS 2010, but it crashes consistently within every flight.
A few points: I don't use a USB headset, rather the audio-jack on the front of my Dell XPS, which is recognized as Realtek Audio Front Jack in the Realtek Wizard.
Secondly, FSFS2010 operates normally through taxiing and take-off and tends to crash on the attempt to change flight stage to Cruise or Landing, after pressing Shift-Ctrl Z; but not always, sometimes it crashed during take-off, too.
I cant help to wonder if it is related somehow to ATC, because sometimes (not always) after a crash of FSFS the ATC voice disappears, but the ATC text is still progressing.
Thanks for any further suggestions, I am eager to solve the problem as I find FSFS 2010 an exciting addition and would like to use it as intended ;-)

Working purely from the point of trying to establish cause and effect, you could try flying a couple of short flights without ATC at all (turned off) to see if this is a factor. I cannot recall any such problems being reported before, but ATC is implemented rather differently with FSX as compared to FS2004 and so this could be a factor I guess. Are you using any add-on ATC or traffic?

Yes, I am running Traffic X. Forgot to mention it earlier.... sorry.
I will give it a try without ATC and see if I can complete a few flights.
