I just recently purchased and downloaded FSFlying School 2009.  When I went to the credits to register, I fillled in all the proper field boxes and the Reg Key.  When I clicked on the Register Program, it was as though everything hung up.  I can still see the information and nothing happens.  I re-downloaded the program twice, but the same keeps coming up when I click the credits icon.  How can this be resolved?  Thanks

How do you mean it "hung up"? The reg. text will Gray out when the info is submitted, and nothing else will happen. Can you not go from the "Credits" tab to the other tabs? Can you not Connect?

That's exactly what I am experiencing. Something will not let me connect.  I don't have a clue what the problem is.  Any help appreciated.

Strange - but lets go over a few things that could cause you to not being able to connect.

What version of flightsimulator are you using? (FS2004/FSX)

Have you installed FSUIPC latest version? (See manual)

If you click the "settings" tab in FSFS (when your FS is running with a plane on the ground) you will see "FSUIPC information - and here you can see version of FSUIPC and the status of FSUIPC. can you describe what it says, or take a screenshot of it and put in your post?

and further down on that same page you should have the path to your FS. Can you confirm that this path is correct?

Is your Flightsimulator running, with a plane ready to operate, when you try to connect? (Your FS must be running)

What kind of Windows are you using? (XP-Vista-7 and 32 or 64 bit system)

Are you running the FSFS with administrators rights? (You got to have Administrators rights)

Sorry to ask all these questions, but we gotta get you airborne....

Awesome. Thanks for all the help. Heres the answers for ya...

What version of flightsimulator are you using? FSX

Have you installed FSUIPC latest version? Yes, just last Saturday.

If you click the "settings" tab in FSFS (when your FS is running with a plane on the ground) you will see "FSUIPC information - and here you can see version of FSUIPC and the status of FSUIPC. can you describe what it says, or take a screenshot of it and put in your post?

When FSX is running and the plane is on the ground, ready to fly, and I look for the "settings" tab, there isnt one... If I look underneath the "options" tab, I can then click on "settings," but it then only leads me to "Display, Load, Save, General, Sound, Controls." So im not too sure where to look for the FSUIPC Information!

and further down on that same page you should have the path to your FS. Can you confirm that this path is correct?

Is your Flightsimulator running, with a plane ready to operate, when you try to connect? (Your FS must be running) Yes, FSX is running. But it is not connecting to the flight school. I think this is where the problem is occuring.

What kind of Windows are you using? Windows Vista 32

Are you running the FSFS with administrators rights? Yes, I am the only one authorized to run the programs, computer, etc.

Another quick update along with that last email...

First, I open open up FSX and get everything ready to go. I then open up FS Flying School 2009 and follow the instructions. (Create or load a flight in Flight Simulator. Get your aircraft on the ground ready to fly. While Flight Simulator is still running Launch FSFS and press its Connect Button.) However, this is where the problem is: In FSX, when I click "Fly Now!" it takes up the entire screen and I cant click the "connect" button on the FS Flying School without exiting the program. I cant run both programs for some reason. Thanks for all the help! I want to get flying

Ken:

Thanks for all the information.

I'll try to cover some of the basics so that the overall scheme is made clear.

FSX and FSFS are two separate programs which run at the same time. They appear as two separate programs on the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Some folks find that it is easier to get started with all this if you run FSX in windowed mode - that is - in a window and not with it taking up the entire screen. To toggle between this mode and full screen mode you just press
ALT Enter
and watch the results. Once you have FSX in a window you can resize the window to whatever you like.

Having mastered this we can start anew.

Start with PC off.

Start up FSX and make sure it is running in windowed mode (not full screen).

Get into the cockpit of the plane you want to fly.

Only once this is all done - leave FSX running and go the the Windows desktop and start up FSFlyingSchool.

You will notice that FSX and FSFlyingSchool are visible on the Windows task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Now - in FSFlyingSchool (not FSX), look at the settings screen and note what it has to say about "FSUIPC Information". Please record the values or take a screen shot and send it to us at this forum or at:
support@fsflyingschool.com

FSFlyingSchool will work only if at this screen it is indicated that there is a good FSUIPC connection to FSX (or FS2004).

If there is no connection you cannot fly with FSFlyingSchool so please send us your findings.

We would also like to know if you have an "Add-ons" menu visible in the menu bar at the top of the screen in FSX and if it contains an item called FSUIPC. This is also essential as it shows that FSUIPC has been installed correctly.

If the FSUIPC data shown in FSFlyingSchool and in FSX look correct (from what I have described) then simply press the Connect button in FSFlyingSchool and then leave FSFlyingSchool running and return to the Windows desktop and return to FSX.

It may be paused, in which case press P to un-pause and then... go flying!

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks again.  I appreciate all your help.

I did as you requested.  There is an "Add-ons" menu that is visible in the menu bar at the top of the screen in FSX and it does contain an item called FSUICP.  Howwever, when I opened the settings in the FS Flying School, this is what it displayed about FSUIPC

Sim is N/A  FSUIPC Version  N/A  Read errors  N/A

FSUIPC Status:  Can't connect - Cannot Link to FSUIPC or Video Client

Time  N/A   Comms.   N/A

I look forward to solving the problem.

This very much looks like:

1. FSUIPC is installed fine and shows up inside FSX - this is good.

2. FSFS cannot communicate with FSUIPC inside FSX - this is bad.

This is almost always caused by some form of security aspect blocking FSFS from 'talking' to FSUIPC, which it must in order to function.

We've noted what you said but can you try this - launch FSX by right clicking on it and chosing Run As... and then pick Administrator.

Get into the cockpit and then use the same method to launch FSFS.

Please tell us if that makes a difference.
