Hi All,
Okay.... I'm facing the same problem as some of the other users. Totally no sound at all. I've switched off all 'skypes' 'msns' and others but still there is not a single word coming out of the speakers. (yes, sometimes I do think and as a consequence start looking for solutions. So 'let's go to the forum...)
There are nearly no process 'left to kill' but still MrSmith is refusing to talk to me (tried the other ones too )
What am I doing wrong? First I start up FSX and then I go for FSFS. But also in the 'stand alone', without FSX running. It's still the case. I've been browsing this forum for 2 days but whatever I try and looked for didn't work.
There is a connection between FSX and FSFS: I get points on my flights and a banner appears during take-off, landing, cruise, ... so it's working. But just not well enough.
Can somebody give me some suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hi FL: I guess we need to know what you've already tried, beyond what you've already explained to us in your post. Please let us know - and which version of FSFS you have. Also - have you looked at the sound devices listed at the settings screen of FSFS? Sometimes switching sound devices there will do the trick. How many devices are listed there and what are they? What happens when you attempt to play the WAV files in the sound folders of FSFS just using Windows (without running FSFS)? Does the "listen to instructor" button work within FSFS?

Hi S L, I've paid and installed the latest version of FSFS. The "listen to instructor" button does not work. That's a fact I know for sure. There are 3 devices listed and switching between them does not solve the problem. The rest I will look further into this evening when I'm back home. Thanks for your quick reply!

Okay, I've bought version 2.3.0 of "FSFlyingSchool 2009 + Cessna 172 Detail Pack". I killed nearly all of the unnecessary processes (most of the programs in the system tray + some of the processes in the task manager) but still there was no instructor by my side. Even tryed to restart in safe mode but still when I press the "listen to the instructor" button I hear utter silence. Also tryed once again to switch between the 3 soundcard devices... Don't know anymore where to look now :-s

Hi I am sure we'll get there - What happens when you attempt to play the WAV files in the sound folders of FSFS just using Windows (without running FSFS)?

I also know that we will get there Playing the WAV-files gives a possitive result ;-) Then I hear for instance "eighty knots".

OK - so the PC can play the files - it's just that FSFS is having trouble playing them. Please give us a list of the sound cards that are shown at the FSFS settings screen. Do you have any non-standard sound hardware such as USB headphones or extra cards?

The choices I've got are:
- Speakers (Realtek High Definiti
- Realtek Digital Output (Realtek
- Realtek HDMI Output (Realtek Hi
Apart from the joystick, there are no other USB devices attached to the laptop. And I even tried without the joystick.

Without changing any values, it may be useful to look at the way the sound is configured. You will need to start at "settings" or "control panel" in Windows and choose: Sounds and Audio Device Properties and look at - Voice - Audio - Volume You may see something that is not set at a useful value. Please let us know how you get on.

Sorry for the late answer. If've been abroad for some days (thanks to my employer )
Been looking at the sound settings and nothing in particular jumps out. I've been trying the other soundcard settings but also these are not bringing 'peace and joy'.
I know I'm being a pain... but is there something else I can try or do? It's not that I'm going die on the money I've spent but I would like to have the/an instructor sitting next to me to give some tips on making me fly a bit smoother, you see.
And I'm also starting to wonder why I've got these 'problems' while thousands of people are using the same software... This makes me think that I'm really illiterate. But okay, here I am...
Must tell you, I really appreciate your help, really!
