Hello, My Cessna 172SP manual calls for the fuel pump to be used prior to engine start. The pump is turned on and the throttle opened to monitor the fuel flow in GPH then it is switched off prior to engine start.

I do see your point.

There are a number of differences in the approach used here - many different techniques used on the web, at flight clubs and flight schools, and in other literature.

We chose to use the one that everyone has, that is, the checklist which comes with Flight Simulator for the plane in question.

If we used a different list, folks who only have the Flight Simulator checklist would not be able to follow along.
