Squadron Leader,

Hi, thanks for your kind reply. Please feel free to quote me at any time. It makes me feel a bit like a successful banker. Of course now I'm glad I watched my language a little bit!

Will submit a review after a few more hops so I know what good ratings sound like.

Sid

Hi
The new release of version 2009 is a plus and a minus for me, as I only just bought the previous version. It has been pushed lately at a reduced price, but those of us who bought it will now have to pay more again to get the new version then if we'd just bought the new release on its own.

I know its not a big difference but IMO I think it would have been fairer to put the upgrade price at $20 dollars.

Hi Garymc7

Last year I bought a new car. shortly after, a new model of the same car came out, and had features mine didn´t have. And I didn´t even get the old version at a reduced price. No discount for me.

I bought FSFlyingschool 6 months ago, at full price, and have loved it every day since. Now I have gotten the new version and that is even better, I admit that - gladly by the way, but that does not mean that the classic version is bad - far from. It is excellent. And you got it at half price, so I consider you one lucky dude.

I´ve looked around at sites for FS addons, and it seems that whereever I look the combined price for an "old" product plus an upgrade, is always higher than for the new one, alone. And I think also that I bought Flight Simulator 9 long ago, and when FSX came out, no discount was offered, even if I had bought FS9 the day before. Upgrade discounts are offered by developers to be kind to existing costumers, it is not a have-to-do thing at all.

What you can do is use this wonderful version that you got very cheap, or consider upgrading to a version that I know have taken one heck of a big workload, and long long time to make what it is today, and yes you will have to pay 5 bucks more than if you had waited. FSInventions halving the price might have let you to believe that something was in the oven though, and so you could have waited, but never mind all that. What you have is the best addon for your Flight Simulator - in MY humble opinion - so enjoy it, for what it was when you bought it - and still is,  and when you feel the urge, the need to upgrade, then put the reduced upgrade price down.

Happy flying with it, and please let us know how you get along. Any questions, don´t hesitate to come in here, and we will get you past your worries.

I must say that I don´t agree with you. Your post seem to indicate that the product you bought, the Classic FSFlyingSchool,  became obsolete the moment the new version arrived. Let me assure you that it didn´t. It is still an amazing addon for your FS, and it is exactly what you paid for when you bought it - in October.

I have lots and lots of addons for FS, and I have experienced 1 (ONE) case of free upgrade, I have experienced lots of discounts, all of which the price for the "old" version plus the upgrade added up to more than the new product.

If you bought the Classic version of FSFS a week ago, as you suggested, you would have gotten it for $20. So you would have gotten 50% off the classic version, and you would get 40% off on the new version, if you want to upgrade. How on earth can that be considered not a loyalty factor? I think that is a very very generous discount to people who bought the classic version and want to upgrade to FSFlyingSchool 2009.

So enjoy this fine product please, and please let us know how you get along - consider submitting some highscores.

Hello,

I am running both FS9 and FSX.

I purchased the FSFS program and it downloaded fine.

I down loaded Fsuipc for fsx from the website and tried to load.

I got simconnect errors.

From Pete's site I found how to correct this.

.

I see the post how people are happy with the program

I followed the instructions and FSX would error out.

I ran FSX repair several times to no avail.

I deleted Fsuipc, uninstalled then reinstalled FSX and got it going.

So now I am back to square one.

I have fs9 on an external drive. FSFS will not see the program.

Any ideas??

Thanks

SKyhawk

Thanks for purchasing our product!

There are thousands of installations working fine all around the world, with FS2004, FSX, XP, Vista, different drives, etc. We'll get there.

Perhaps it would be best to ask which FS you want to deal with first. FS2004 is much simpler, but you should let us know which one you want to start with.

Thank you for your quick response.

I would prefer to work with FSX since that is what I fly the most.

But if setting up FS9 is easier and the setup will help me understand how to get FSX working I,m all for it.

I am a private pilot working on my instrument rating.

I have the On Top IFR series to practice, but I like the interaction in the FS training and looking forward to doing some training in FSX with an aircraft that simulates what I fly in the real world.

Thanks again

Great to hear that you are up and flying with FS2004 and FSFS!

Now then - onto FSX...

FSX, as the flight simulation community knows, is very sensitive to installation procedures, uninstalls, patches, etc. and the award winning FSUIPC, which is a fabulous program and for which Pete was the first to receive an award from the Microsoft team at the 2005 flight simulation convention in Blackpool, UK... even FSUIPC can be given... problems... by the current state of FSX in the PC in question.

In my own experience, the best situation of all is a PC which has just had FSX installed on it (nothing more) and then FSUIPC 4.xxxxx (the latest version 4 point something) is installed on it.

After that, more and more FSX SPs and so forth can be installed and FSUIPC will be fine.

The worst situation is where FSX has been uninstalled, moved, tweaked, etc before FSUIPC comes to visit the PC.

I am not saying this is the case with your PC, but if it is, things can get complicated.

1. Reading your post, the current situation on the PC is that FSX was uninstalled and has since been reinstalled - is this correct? What version is currently installed?

2. We need FSUIPC to be uninstalled too - please follow its documentation for this.

3. Once that is done, let me know. If that is not the case, again, let me know what the current status is.

I cannot recall a single instance of not being able to get this running, so we'll get there.
