Hi SL:

I have been flying a couple of circuits this weekend. What a great fun that is. Really keeps you on your toes, but at the same time, dosen´t take all that long, so all in all a wonderful feature in FSFlyingschool.

That said then I must admit that I have a little problem, with the scoring. (ha ha don´t laugh here I don´t mean it like that)
Problem is that a lot of the time, when I have completed a circuit, and land, I get no Circuitscore, because of the error shown in the screenshot below!

As you can see I get a flight-, and landingscore but no circuitscore (well yes a 0.00 but not a submittalble score) because the final circuit is 410 seconds long. NO it isn´t! I recon that the entire circuit is 410 seconds long, but none of the individual legs lasts for more than the 6 minuts, that is max according to the manual.

It seems that FSFS looks upon the entire circuit as one leg. And yes I hear the instructor call upwind-, crosswind-, downwind-, base leg, and final, so something does not compute here or I perform completly wrong. But sometimes it works fine. I actually cracked the top 10 in circuit table, so... But it takes a little of the fun out of it, when not being rated 80% of the time.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Ole Andreasen, Denmark

Ole:

First - congrats on getting into the top ten of the circuits table - this requires considerable skill and we are all, I am sure, most impressed by your performance.

The reduction of the score to zero would come from a leg being over 6 minutes long, but you say that this is not the case. Perhaps, next time this happens, you could take a screen shot of the flight analysis from FS and email it to us so we could look at the pattern flown.

I'd also be interested to hear your estimate of the length of the flight (time) - could you time it for us?

Hi folks,

Same problem as Ole.
Did a circuit with landing and flight scores of about 90 and had a circuit score of 0.00. Got a Final too long and yet my total circuit time is about six minutes. The instructor correctly tells me "good altitude for crosswind, nice job, continue you'll have a perfect score, great altitude on final" etc, etc. and yet I get a 0.00...
I am at work and cannot access my full logbook online (wish we could that from anywhere). But I will send it to you tonight.

Other problem is that I go from a landing score of 80 to a score of 26 with the comment "nowhere near the centerline". Although my circuits may vary a little, it certainly doesn't justify the incredible drop of points. I follow my tracks on Plan-G and the flight paths are quite similar.

Again, I will send you a copy of my logbook. But you might want to take a look at these inconsistencies. If we are to use the Career Analysis, the scores have to show a level of reliability.

Hi:

I would like to see maps of these flights - can you fly some and submit some to the web site and then send me the links produced by FSFS please?

Then - send the log book text that matches the maps so we have all the data to investigate the case.

Roger that SL,
I will try to do that this weekend. In the meantime I attached a copy of my logbook for the flight mentioned before.

Thank you kindly!

Tried to give you some circuits but FSFS gives me a Run-time error. I reinstalled without success.

Figured out the error.
Last time the USB headphones were plugged in, voice command was on.
The error happened when the headphones were unplugged and voice command was still on.
Turned VC off and voila! Problem solved.

I suspect VC seeks a microphone of some sort and FSFS gives an error when it doesn't find one.

Hi Mario:

Thanks for the detailed report about the USB device.

Others have reported some cases like this here on the forum - this is something that we are working on being able to detect and display a message which at least suggests to the user what action to take.

SL,

You will find four circuits made yesterday January 16y. I attached my complete logbook and the link to the maps. Hope this works.

A few questions:
Would the scores be influenced by the types of aircraft flown, i.e. fsu vs. fsr ?
I adjusted my NAV1 to my local VOR and set the bearing to the departing runway. The four flights were loaded from the same FSX flight. I changed the A/C on one occasion.

I am not sure of what to make of the following lines. They seem to bring the landing score to 20 and therefore put a 0.00 for the circuit score.

"No glideslope information was available on visual approach.
No runway alignment information was available on visual approach.
Landed without a proper approach OR off runway surface.
No glideslope - could not compare flare to glideslope.
Nowhere near the centre line - get lined up and keep it that way"

Hope this will bring some light.

I do enjoy making circuits with your software. I just want it to be as consistent as it can.
