Some questions and suggestions:

1. Are you successfully using any other FS2004 add-ons which require FSUIPC?
I have and do use occasionally the ActiveSky Radar/weather but have not been using it lately but when I just attempted to run it it ran fine.

This would indicate that FSUIPC is running fine - good.

2. If you are using add-ons, can you try to run FS2004 and FSFS without any other programs  or add-ons running and let me know what occurs?
I have tried loading a standard flight in the default cessna 172 at default airports with no addons running with the same problem.

OK - add-ons not causing problem. Cross that off.

3. Have you altered the default configuration of FSUIPC for FS2004 in any way?
Nope I have not modified anything withing the default config as of yet. Only thing I really do is map a few keys for my yoke when I do use FSUIPC to make changes to my sim

This should be fine, but simply because it is not a compeltely standard - vanilla - dull - installation, can you try running FSFS without mapping keys in FSUIPC?
FSFS is itself mapping keys in FSUIPC and this could indeed be the problem - not sure but it is promising...

4. What is your version of FS2004?
I'm running Version 9.1 which should be the latest correct?

Yes.
Also - the latest version of FSFlyingSchool is 1.9.2 and is available from our website at:
www.fsflyingschool.com/download/FSFlyingSchool_Setup.exe

5. What is your version of Windows?
I'm currently running Windows Vista Home premium.

Splendid!

As stated in another thread the settings.ini file does not show up withing the fsflyingschool folder even though I have show all files set within the folder options. Does this mean anything?

Your later post says you now have it (as you did another install)- so I won't speculate about this.

I was a little frustrated last night.  Nothing new with software and me.  I apologize.  I have the upmost confidence I'll get it going (with your help of course).  After reading the manual a little further, I did see where it is a demo copy, but with the "access" codes on the CD, it will fully register...My bad.

I'm at work right now, but I'll try to do a few things from memory.  But I will go home obviously to see for sure.

I know I loaded the latest and greatest FSUIPC4  4.28 from the mentioned website.  What was throwing me off was when it got to the registration window, "I'm like, I don't want to register it", but couldn't figure out what do do other than hitting cancel to "plow" on.  I remember it finishing.  One of those things, "did it work or not?"

I started the FSX simulation, got my plane ready at my local runway here in KS, and there is the Addon's showing FSUIPC.  I even click the tab and to the best of my recollection, it showed all the same stuff as your example.  I will make sure the 4.28 is showing later tonight.  But I've got to believe, like you said if it shows it there on Addon's then it installed properly.

I brought the FlyingSchool manual to work, because as you know we all do work at work?   One thing I'm going to try that I know is happening.  I saw a tip that said make sure I need to go into my FSX settings and change the "Pause on task Switch".  I do definitely know that my FSX was pausing when I went to switch on the FSFlyingSchool software.  I hope it is as simple as that, of which i will proudly kick myself in butt!  I guess I'm assuming that with it being paused, the software won't find it up and running?

I also do remember seeing all the files and folders that the software puts onto my C:drive.  I've got a feeling I've done everything right, but it's got to be something stupid.

Really looking forward to using this as I go after my real pilots license as well.  I saw this and thought although it's not the real thing, it would certainly make me think a whole lot more just like the real thing.

PC Specifics - Dell XPS (Core 2 Quad processor, 4G Ram, nVidia8800GT)  Windows Vista Ultimate, and FSX with Acceration Pack.  And really the only other thing I'm running is a bunch of WOAI traffic.

Thanks for the Help!

Well I tried the trick of making sure the "pause" is not selected, and that did not work either.

I do have the correct version of FSUIPC running.  It shows up on my addon's.

Not sure where to go from here....please help troubleshoot.

Reading a few other related e-mails posted recently, I too cannot find the .ini file you described or it never.  I copied the "settings" one you created and tried that as well with no success.  I'm not sure if that was specifically for the FS2004 or could it be used for FSX though, but I gave it a try.

I have re-installed the Flying School software a couple times now, and I was just wondering why the Field1, Field2, Field3, and Reg Key is already there when I go to the credits screen.  Is this normal, or do I have something else going on.

Thanks for experimenting - never hurts - but the pause has no effect on the process. It is a matter of preference whether it pauses or not. FSFS will function fine with FS paused.

Excellent.

Well, let's see... (read on)

The settings.ini I uploaded here yesterday was for a specific PC with a "junk" folder I suggested to help the user in question - you don't want that file on your system. The cleanest way to be sure it's gone is to reinstall FSFS again.

I have re-installed the Flying School software a couple times now, and I was just wondering why the Field1, Field2, Field3, and Reg Key is already there when I go to the credits screen.  Is this normal, or do I have something else going on.

It is nothing to worry about - it may or may not occur depending on circumstances of no interest to you and I at present. Thanks for mentioning it - troubleshooting is all about little details.

1. Can you send us a screen shot of the problem - you mentioned it was the same as Jared as I recall, but I want to see your screen. Please take a picture of the whole PC screen with the FSFS problem visible on the screen.

2. Try running with nothing else running except launch FSX first and get a plane onto the runway ready to fly, turn off any add-on traffic or weather etc and only then launch FSFS and press connect if you can.

Thanks for the help guys, I was able to get my copy of the program to work by going into the properties of the executable and telling it to run in the windows xp service pack 2 compatibility mode
