Ok fellows, I installed the flying school package last night and have flown a few successful flights within FSX. Unfortunately my main sim that I spend all of my time flying in is FS2004 which for some reason I can not get to work with the Flying school. I'm running the following: Acer Veriton 5000+ 1TB 10,000RPM HD Nvidia 8800GT, 4GB ram, etc. The Flight sim's both reside on an "auxilary" drive that is not the same as my windows partition. The flying school found the proper folder for both installations of FSX and FS9. I also have the latest version of FSUIPC (3.81) installed AND registered correctly. When I installed the program and try to run it with FS9 I get the following errors within the program: For some reason it does not seem like it is finding the FSUIPC file and connecting to it properly. So far I have tried removing both the flying school and FSUIPC from my computer and then reinstalling the flying school by itself. I have also tried manually installing FSUIPC again. Unfortunately no matter what I do it will not allow me to connect. The connect button is always greyed out and when I go to the settings page I see what is displayed above in the picture that the IPC has timed out. Anyone have any suggestions? I really like the thought of being able to use this software to take flight simming to a new level for myself, but at the moment I spent the money and I really can't use it for much. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks, Jared

Jared: I cannot assume anything (a dangerous idea in product support) and so... If you have not already done so, please be sure to have a plane on the runway ready to fly before you launch FSFlyingSchool with FS2004 (or FSX). If it does not connect when launched, even though FS2004 is ready with a plane boiling on the runway and waiting to explode... then we've certainly got a problem with comms between FSFS and FSUIPC. Is this the case? Also - does FSUIPC show up on the modules menu in FS2004? Again I am sure it does but I have to tick all the boxes as it were. I am sure we'll get there... One thing that does stand out about the PC in question is that the FS versions are installed on the "E" drive I think (it is difficult to read from the screen shot). This should not matter and hundreds of users have done the same, but it is not standard and so it could be a factor - but I cannot imagine how at present...

Any ideas yet?

Some questions and suggestions: 1. Are you successfully using any other FS2004 add-ons which require FSUIPC? 2. If you are using add-ons, can you try to run FS2004 and FSFS without any other programs or add-ons running and let me know what occurs? 3. Have you altered the default configuration of FSUIPC for FS2004 in any way? 4. What is your version of FS2004? 5. What is your version of Windows?

Some questions and suggestions: 1. Are you successfully using any other FS2004 add-ons which require FSUIPC? I have and do use occasionally the ActiveSky Radar/weather but have not been using it lately but when I just attempted to run it it ran fine. 2. If you are using add-ons, can you try to run FS2004 and FSFS without any other programs or add-ons running and let me know what occurs? I have tried loading a standard flight in the default cessna 172 at default airports with no addons running with the same problem. 3. Have you altered the default configuration of FSUIPC for FS2004 in any way? Nope I have not modified anything withing the default config as of yet. Only thing I really do is map a few keys for my yoke when I do use FSUIPC to make changes to my sim 4. What is your version of FS2004? I'm running Version 9.1 which should be the latest correct? 5. What is your version of Windows? I'm currently running Windows Vista Home premium. As stated in another thread the settings.ini file does not show up withing the fsflyingschool folder even though I have show all files set within the folder options. Does this mean anything?

I did uninstall and reinstall the software on the same hard drive as the simulators are running and I did finally get a settings.ini file. Unfortunately my FS9 still does not work.

SquadronLeader, I basically have the same problem as Jared, except for I am running FSX. I'm extremely frustrated at this point because when I bought the software off of PCAviator, I do not recall seeing all this extra stuff involved. I uninstalled the software once, and when I reinstalled it, it already had the product information loaded in the fields. I don't know where to go at this point, so I hope I can get this up and running soon. Thanks, Joe

One other thing that is bothering me... Why is the CD that I received a Demo copy when I paid for it? Is this correct or am I missing something?

Joe: I'll start with the easy one first. Whenever anyone installs FSFS they have the demo version, which they convert to the full version by entering registration data. This way, we have just one version of the product to support, which means we can spend our time in the important stuff!

Joe: Please rest assured that there are many 100s of installations of FSFS all over the world using FS2004, FSX, XP and Vista - we just need to troubleshoot this one. We need to establish if FSUIPC for FSX , that is version 4.xxx is correctly installed on the PC. The current version is called: "FSUIPC4 4.28" With a plane on the runway, you should have an Add-Ons menu available on the FSX menu bar. In it, FSUIPC should be listed. If it is not, FSFS will not connect. Is it there? If it is not - to save time - quit FSX and FSFS and download and install it now from: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html or http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/FSUIPC4.zip?timestamp=050308 You do not need to pay for it - just download and install it. You do not need to register it - FSFS works fine with it due to commericial agreements with its author. If it is there and yet FSFS cannot find FSX when FSFS is launched then there must be something wrong with the FSUIPC installation and I would ask you to install it again. Pleae let me know how you get on.
