Hello,
I use FSFS with FSX P3D and XP10&11 and I have found it is much more difficult to get good scores with XP. Do you think it is because planes are more realistic and criteria more difficult to match. It is frustating to obtain a low score on XP after a good one with FSX/P3D (in the same conditions) with the feeling (personal) of having done a pretty good flight.
Perhaps the problem is only with me but I would like to have your opinion.
Thank you very much for answering.
Best regards

Hi Gerodcray:
My first thoughts would be to ask if the flights are exactly the same, as in same flight plan, wind, aircraft, visibility and approach (ILS or visual)?
Was the autopilot used?
Some folks have a lot of trouble steering on the ground in X-Plane.
If you compare (between simulators) the lists of items that were cited in the log book for the flights and landings as negative, are they the same? If not then of course the scores will indeed be different.
Please let me know.

Hello,
Thank you for answering. The comparisons I made were always concerning the same flight plan, the same plane (a GA one) and the same time/weather conditions. I never use PA during a flight with FSFS.
I have now to check all items you mentioned.
It is true that ground operations are much more difficult with XP. When taxiing, very often you get the message ‘watch your steering’ without reason (it’s my feeling) and at the very beginning of a turn to leave the runway you have the message ‘gentle turn’. These messages affect the score as there are comments such as ‘poor steering’, ‘dangerous taxiing turns’. Most of the time low scores come from such comments and I don’t think it is always justified. I have been using FSFS for a long time with FS9, FSX and more recently P3D, XP and I am surprised by the difficulty of getting reasonable scores with XP.
Thank you for reading.

Hello
I don’t understand why my landing scores are so low with X-Plane. In this example I don’t agree with the comments. I join a small video (https://youtu.be/5tJFZVAY2do) and I would like to understand what was really wrong. I don’t agree also with comments relative to taxi turns or "watch your steering" at the very beginning of a turn to a taxi way. Such results with X-Plane are quite frustrating as I get much better scores with FSX or P3D (same plane, same flight).
Thank you very much for some explanations.
Best regards

Hi Gerodcray:
Landing points were lost as follows:
Poor glideslope on ILS approach - you can do better. [0%]
Landed without a proper approach OR off runway surface.
Not near the centre line - you can do better.
- I can't be sure how far from the glidesope the plane was as we cannot hear the instructor and we cannot see the GS indicator inside the cockpit.
- FSFlyingSchool says landed off runway or with no approach indicated to instructor. We see the plane lands on the runway so that suggests that the plane was not in landing mode when 500 AGL was descended through?
- "Not near centre line" suggests that the plane was not in landing mode when 500 AGL was descended through OR that there is something wrong with the data for that runway.
Is the runway an add-on?
Please try the same at a runway which you know is not an add-on and let me know what results you get.

Hello,
Thank you for your quick answer. I am sure that the flight was in landing mode. The runway is part of an addon scenery. It's a good idea to flight to a default airport. I will complete this topic in a few hours.

Hello,
As suggested I did a flight to an airport not part of an addon. The result was much better (cf video link and PS). How can we verify now that my previous low scores were effectively a consequence of wrong data ?
Another comment : some criteria are too much sensitive (taxiing turns and steering). It’s very very difficult to avoid warnings relative to these criteria.
A wish : in a future version it would be very interesting to add the scores (LS and FS) in new columns of the traditional handbook.
Thank you for further comments.
Best regards

Hi:

If you have not generated runway data in FSFlyingSchool please do this and then quit FSFlyingSchool and then start up as usual and fly the flight at the add-on runway again.
As the manual explains...
In order to generate the runway data for FSFlyingSchool for X-Plane, simply press the button at the Settings Page.
The process will launch an external program in a separate window and will take a few minutes.
You only need to perform this operation once, unless you update your X-Plane runway data, in which case you should run it again.
The manual also explains...
Note that when landing at a runway which is part of add-on scenery, the location of the runway in
FSFlyingSchool for X-Plane’s whole world runway data or the signal of the ILS on an ILS approach, may
not match the physical position of the runway in the add-on scenery.
We have seen ILS signals direct us down into a lovely field next to the runwayR or worseR
If such mismatched runways are used for visual approaches with FSFlyingSchool, this may lead to poor
scores and confusing instruction, because the runway is not where the data says it is!
If such mismatched runways are used for ILS approaches with FSFlyingSchool, this may lead to poor
scores and confusing instruction, because the runway is not where the ILS says it is!
In the end, you should try an approach to the add-on scenery runway and see how it feels.
>> Another comment : some criteria are too much sensitive (taxiing turns and steering). It’s very very difficult to avoid warnings relative to these criteria.
Rest assured that we have adjusted these settings, and dozens of others, based on user feedback and extensive testing. If something is very wrong, a lot of people will let us know and this is not currently the case with steering and taxi turns.
This leads me to think I may be able to help in this way - steering and taxi turns can certainly be a problem if they are too violent (the turn is taken too sharply) or if they are taken at too high a speed. This can sometimes be an unwanted effect of using some types of controller, which produce just such types of violent jolts.
>> A wish : in a future version it would be very interesting to add the scores (LS and FS) in new columns of the traditional handbook.
This is an interesting idea. As the scores are not of the same weight this will require some thought (from us here) as to its final utility.

Hello,
Thank you for explanations. I noticed the button to generate Runways data. My problem is that this button is not active (it's grey) with and without X-Plane running. What can I do ?
Best regards

Hello,
I found a second button relative to RW database in the flight plans panel. I could activate it and now, when flying in an addon scenery, scores begin to be normal. This refresh button was not available in FSX and P3D version of FSFS. It's why I did not try to use it.
Best regards
gerodcray
PS : in the statistics shown in the full logbook are scores weighted before building histograms ?
