Hello,
New user of FSFS, I'm first very satisfied with your splendid software.
62 years old and retired technician of Aerospatiale (France) having worked on Concorde, I spent my life in aeronautic domain.
As my health doesn't allow me to fly in real life, I'm a simulation enthusiast from FS 4.0.
Your product is also used on my computer by my Grand Son who wants to be a Pilot.
So, I got a little problem you should easily solve. I've performed several short flights since I've purchased FSFS2015, but they not been all recorded into the logbook.
Only 4 of them (7) are recorded.
Would you tell me the conditions for a flight to be recorded, please.
Thanks again for this precious tool
Best regards
Pierre Chassang

Hi Pierre:
Many thanks for your interest in FSFlyingSchool and for your very kind words of encouragement - very much appreciated.
I imagine working with Concorde must have been fascinating.
As to flights not being recorded in the log book - the most common reason for this is that the flights involved were never ended as far as FSFlyingSchool is concerned and this in turn is most likely due to the settings at the Flight Plan screen of FSFlyingSchool, where the user controls what triggers the end of a flight.
The three options are (after landing):
a) stopped or taxiing
b) 'a' above AND parking brake set
c) 'a' AND 'b' AND engine(s) shut down
The simplest is of course (a) but that will not take into account how well the pilot taxis after landing. The most realistic is of course (c).
Beyond that reason - the flight will not be recorded of course if the pilot simply disconnects from FSFlyingSchool before the flight has ended.
You always know if the flight will be recorded in the log book when the instructor says "OK - We're starting a new flight!" as that in fact signals the END of the previous flight.
Please let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions.
Finally - are you flying a Concorde with FSFlyingSchool...?

Hi,
Thanks for reply.
Just flown 2 hours flight from engine start to engine stop.
FSFS shows me a result windows with just landing result.
I have no way to record the flight.
The aircraft is on the parking brake set and engine stopped.
What can I do to avoid to lose the flight?
I had to change flight parameter from "stopped and brake set & engine off" to " stopped and parking brake" for enable record.
The aircraft was A2A C172.
Any idea?
Thanks for help.
Best regards

Hi:
>> I had to change flight parameter from "stopped and brake set & engine off" to " stopped and parking brake" for enable record.
I am not sure I follow the current status - did this change result in the flights being added to the log books?
You can click on "View Full Pilot Log Book" at the Log Book screen of FSFS to see if the flight has been added to it if your PC is still showing the status in the screen shot you just sent.

Hi,
I did that, unsuccessfully.
The flight was not added to the full pilot logbook until I checked... "stopped and parking brake".
Selecting this option, all seems work fine.
Greetings
Pierre

Hello,
Trying some landings and flights, the parking brake set + engines stopped doesn't finish the flight and doesn't allow recording (A2A C172 trainer)
Best regards

Hi Pierre:
I know there are folks out there flying the A2A c172 with FSFS - we modified FSFS specifically to support it.
I imagine the interesting question is whether any of those folks are ending flights with stopped + brake + engines off...?
Can you try a short flight (it only needs to be 30 seconds long) and then make sure to shut absolutely everything off, using the keyboard or mouse but not using external controls (e.g. USB).
I say this because it could be that if external controls (e.g. USB) are involved the mixture is not being completely cut off.
Please make sure the mixture is pulled completely out to idle cut off and the magnetos are switched off.
Here's a little help from the manual...
FSFS-Tip
In some aircraft, cutting off the fuel is difficult to achieve using the mouse with the on-screen aircraft controls, such as fuel mixture or jet fuel cut off, and so you may need to use Flight Simulator’s standard Ctrl+Shift+F1 to cut off the engine(s).
Please let me know how you get on.
