I, too, have the WideFS problem. (UIPC 4.40, Wide Client 6.78)

Hi all, newbie to this forum, though have had FSFS for some time, just not had the CPU power to run it alongside everything else (VoxATC, Cockpit Chatter, TrafficX, ActiveSkyX, XPax)!  Bought myself a new Scan 3XS Core i7 965 overclocked to 4GHz for 'X'mas and decided to try out all the add-ons together.  Worked a treat (all sliders to the right) until...

I run VoxATC and Cockpit Chatter with FSX on the Core i7, and ActiveSkyX & XPax (using SimConnect), and FSFS2009 (using WideFS) on the second m/c.  There are 2 sound cards in the Core i7, 1 for FSX ambient sounds to the speakers, and the second for VoxATC & Cockpit Chatter to my headphones for the ATC and co-pilot voices.  The second PC sounds (such as XPax passenger sounds and cabin announcements) also go to the speakers.

The thing is, FSFS will only use the default sound card, which has to be the headphones for VoxATC and Cockpit Chatter to work (FSX can use the second sound card because of the sound redirection thoughtfully provided by MS).  Three voices in my ear are very confusing at times.  To get FSFS to play to the speakers, it has to be loaded onto the second, WideFS pc.  That's fine, but I get the double key-press problem as above, and there is no way round it I can see.

So, can (a) FSFS voices be directed to a sound card other than the default output, or (b) the WideFS problem be solved?

Otherwise, a really great product!  Thanks for the hard work and keep it up.  I'd be willing to be a beta tester for the WideFS fix if you want.

As an FS developer once wrote...

FSFS sound likes to come through a single default Windows 'voice output' setting on the PC. It may be possible that you would be able to hear it from a different output device, but this is not supported by us at present. A small number of users have found that if they have more than one Windows voice output device, they cannot hear FSFS sound at all. This has been solved by disabling the other Windows voice output devices.

So at present - we have no simple solution for the question you asked, but we are looking into it as a number of users are interested in separating the different sounds just as you say.

I hope I don't tempt fate by saying that the WideFS problem looks like it will prove easier to solve and we welcome your offer to beta test that solution.  We will let you know when that momentous day arrives.

Thanks for looking into this.  The WideFS solution would be best for me, too, as anything that keeps the load down on the main FSX machine must help with the all important frame rates !

I'll keep an eye out for a beta!
