Hi Mor:
This is a puzzle! The tests we ran here were absolutely clear - FSFS running with FSXSE produced the problem of unknown planes not getting estimated data. The new version 8.2.0, with its new logic, solved it.
From a purely technical perspective - the first possibility that suggests itself if that 8.2.0 was not running in your test (plenty of people have done this sort of thing and run the older version after installing a new EXE) but of course you can check this as the version is shown at the bottom of FSFS when it is running.
We will include the new logic in the next version we publish officially (with an installation program) which is expected in just a few days.
As for the spoiler, I see what you mean! I cannot say if any developers are using it and what they might use it for - but it's true that this (indications to FSX that something is there when it is not) happens sometimes with gear, flaps and spoilers.

I'll try doing a clean re-install when 8.2 is released and see how that works out. I'm running 8.2 from the right folder and it shows it's running 8.2 so it isn't that. It's not like I can't get the unknown aircraft working at all and I've nearly done them all now. Actually had 8.2 crash on me last night and no other version I've run has crashed yet.
The cowl flaps on the Catalina cause considerable drag when open and I was suspicious of the spoiler warnings because of that. I think it's possible when changing aircraft that this configuration might stick so the next aircraft with no spoilers has them tagged as open too. But I'm only guessing. If I get these warnings again I'll try loading up the default flight and see if it clears it.
