Hi everyone,
Just bought the new PRO upgrade with voice and Cessna packs a few days ago...Since It was installed I have had FSFS getting quite a few errors about sound card changes and closing down. Sorry i didn't get the exact problem as I just continued on.
Now unfortunately I cant get FSFS to connect at all, it starts up fine, i can still put all the info into it as needed or wanted, everything looks right and in order but as soon as I click the connect button I now get Run-time Error '-2004287472 (88890010)': Automation Error and then FSFS closes.
As I said in the subject, possible sound card issues, I am only assuming this as I had previous sound card changing issues?? (I clearly wouldn't change anything like that in flight)....anyway
When FSFS was running without incident and I mean no error messages, there were also a few times when flying the delay between what I said, for example prepare for landing, and acknowledgement from sir smith was several seconds and his acknowledgement would be wrong, for example we are cruising. By this point I would have set flaps and he would then go into a strop about cruising with flaps...so I withdraw the flaps and he recognise then that we are landing and on and on and on, i hope you get the picture. This instance was corrected by switching off automatic detection, which is a built in feature that i like...makes things more challenging, I think anyway...
I am not going to do any re-installs at the moment in case anyone here wants more info as it stands and I will be happy to help..please advise
thanks.
Just to add that Im running windows 7 32 bit and FSX

Hi -
Sorry to hear about the problems.
I would imagine that the answer to the voice recognition issue can only be more voice training or elimination of background noise? If Smitty and his friends recognize everything else then it must surely be that?
As to the errors which are likely related to the sound configuration having been changed... have you changed anything apart from the settings in FSFS? If you have not then perhaps a clean install of FSFS to a new folder would be worth a try.
If on the other hand you have also changed the sound settings of the PC or changed the hardware (this can be as small a thing as unplugging or plugging in USB headphones) then there are many variables in the case and if it were me I would try to retrace my steps and get back to where I was before.
There is no difference at all in the sound technology used in FSFS 2011 compared to FSFS Pro.
Please let me know how you get on.

Thx for your reply.
I realised that the confusion was to do with automatic flight mode detection, I still think that voice command should take president over automatic flight detection but easy enough to swith off but as for the configuration changes, as I said, why would I change sound settings or any other settings while in flight and I didnt change or unplug my headphones either......anyway.
I have now re-installed fsfs pro with no change...
I have reinstalled fsfs pro and fsx with no change....
I have reinstalled windows, fsx and fsfs pro.....and preliminary tests have shown similar problems, so I have done further testing on running fsx in windowed mode, as I had real problems switching between fsx and fsfs (this problem is not apparent with 2010), I ran a full flight with fsx in windowed mode, without issue from fsfs BUT
1. I had no sound from fsx at all (ie/ no engine sounds or ATC) but I did hear and was able to communicate perfectly with fsfs. and
2. I dont like running fsx in windowed mode, so i dont see this as a solution even if I can get the sound back with fsx.
I will continue testing, and I would appreciate any feed back on what else I can try to resolve these issues and I will get back to you when done.
But right now, I do think this is all a bit EXTREME as my previous version 2010 still works perfectly, so I am doubting that fsx or windows is to fault. But am more than happy to be proved wrong if I can resolve these problems....

Hi -
This is a puzzle as a large number of folks have upgraded to or bought FSFS Pro without issue.
At present I can only imagine that something about the sound software or hardware has changed, but this is a puzzle if FSFS 2010 works without issue.
What are all your sound cards (see "Other" at FSFS settings screen) and what are FSFS Pro and FSX set to use?

Hi thx for getting back to me...
My other settings are :
1. Speakers(VIA HD Audio)
2. Digital Output Device (HDMI TX0)(VIA HD Audio)
3. SPDIF Interface (TX1)(VIA HD Audio)
I have both FSX and FSFS Pro set to No.1...setting to primary device gives me the most problems and the problems only occurred when in landing mode.
I have re-installed my sound drivers then FSX and FSFS, will report back as I get more info.
Thx again MB

Hi -
"...the problems only occurred when in landing mode"
This is another puzzle. As you can imagine, the sound technology being used does not change with the flight mode - it is the same throughout.
I wonder what it is about landing mode on your PC that causes the problem?
"...will report back as I get more info."
Please let me know how you got on.

Hi Squadron Leader, thx for your time once again...
When i get the sound card errors when landing, I get the most peculiar comments in flight. I will list a few and give explanations to what was going on.....ALL these reports were using the 'On Approach' feature so no take off and no flight, also I have 'flaps allowed while taxiing' to eliminate the taxiing with flaps error and automatic detection setup for cruise and landing are off, as the problems were much worse when they were on.....
1. He mentions having flaps down while taxiing. He thinks Im taxiing when Im actually landing
2. He mentions that im taxiing to fast. He thinks Im taxiing when Im actually landing
3. He mentions that Im descending while taking off. He thinks Im taking off when Im actually landing
4. He gives the altitude calls right up to him saying 20 feet - flare, but he would say dont descend while taking off throughout. He still thinks Im taking off or does he??
5. He will say 'lets get down to the glidescope' and then say 'your too low lets intersect the glidescope'. This can be very confusing, especially when I have the PAPI to relate to, but he acknowledges in these instances that I am in landing mode.
In 1. to 4. above FSFS wouldnt advance to landing mode with voice or keyboard commands. I would say 'prepare for landing, I will see an acknowledgement on top of screen 'Roger...' but he doesnt acknowledge with the 'Ok were ready to land' response.
I realise that there may be no correlation between these problems but I can only report what I experience. Any input here would be welcome as Ive exhausted all that I can think of trying.
Thx MB

Hi MB:
Just to let you know - we are looking at this - have never (I don't think) seen such a puzzle.
Mr Smith usually knows exactly what is going on - and he does not keep it a secret!

Hi Squadron leader...
Thx for keeping tabs on this, I have had no luck or any improvement, so i have spent the weekend stripping my computer back to the its bare bones and have re-built it from scratch to make sure there are no hardware issues. (I build computers for a living so wasn't a hassle)
I have sought out drivers from the manufactures chipsets, so I will be testing both them and the drivers that came with the hardware.
At present I have installed FSX and FSUIP with manufactures drivers and am stress testing them, later on I will install FSFS Pro and hopefully have some results by tomorrow.
Yet again, any input at this stage would be welcome. I am very proficient when it comes to hardware, drivers and testing but I lack the knowledge when software is involved. So if anyone out there can give me some ideas that I might not have thought of, your input would be welcome.
Thx MB
