Whoa - that's a lot of information - we love it - thanks, I am working through your points.

Just a quick thought - can you tell FSUIPC to go back to * not * being synchronized with your PC clock. This is the only unusual element I can pick out from what you've described and this could - for some reason yet undiscovered - be an issue. If it is we'll investigate it with Peter.

Try that for a few flights and see if it makes a difference.

Great - we've got lots to look at.

>> but this third one shows a flight which, like the one prior to it, didn't disconnect and went okay (I added it to the score tables for a bit of fun). This difference is I altered FSUIPC settings for this last flight as you suggested (turning off time sync). As you can see from the logs, the time in the full log is accurate again but the traditional log still has an unexplained night flight entry. The FSX default logbook still only reads daylight hours. Since I installed FSF I've never flown at night (real or simulated). I'd say FSUIPC isn't the cause. The impromptu disconnects seem to have stopped but these phantom night entries have got me stumped..?

We'll be investigating how the time sync might affect users, but in the meantime it's good to hear that this adjustment * may * have made a difference and got you to a point where you can at least enjoy uninterrupted flights.
 
As to the night entries, we're looking at the logs to attempt to find a pattern and thereby an explanation.

All kidding aside, the fact is that there are so many parameters involved in this equation, including FS2004 or FSX with their respective patches, 2 completely different versions of FSUIPC each with their own sub-versions, XP or Vista, other add-on software - you get the idea...
We have not encountered this before and so it is not known to be a general issue with the software.
However, as I say, we'll press on with the case, using your data.

This can happen if the ILS is not set to the ILS for the runway you landed at, of course. Any help...?

Or... if add-on scenery is used this can lead to the runway being moved without the ILS also moving, so the ILS will guide you down into a nice field beside the runway, or perhaps Terminal 3...

It is unusual to hear that a pilot is on the LOC all the way down and then gets a bad mark when landing... hmmm....

Less frequent repeats and more patience would be most welcome when your struggling with a bit of weather or something. He can always railroad you at the end when he's scoring so long as he doesn't make it up like he did about the centre-line!

This is very much personal taste and we run the risk that if the instructor is more laid back, we expose ourselves to complaints like:
"I drifted away from the GS and LOC and the instructor didn't even notice for 25 seconds - your logic should check this more often!"
We could perhaps introduce a sliding scale for users to adjust...

And did you know that when I first purchased it (I made myself purchase it!) I was quite reluctant to fire it up... I've spent so much time over the years (I really daren't tell you just exactly how much....) teaching myself the how-to's of flight-simming and I wanted to know, to really know once and for all, whether or not all those hours zooming in and out of places, without any real tuition or full knowledge of what I was doing, had done me any good whatsoever. It was my first pro feedback, so to speak, however artificial, and the result encouraged me no end!

And yes, quote me anytime, I'd be honoured!

Thanks again for the kind words - it's good to know that people are not only enjoying the software, but are getting something useful out of it too.

As we've mentioned elsewhere on the forum, there's a lot more already written into the program which is currently in the testing lab - comin' soon...

By the way - I'm a bit of a fanatic on this one - do try the failures settings. Don't use them if you're looking for high scores as they are not yet integrated into the scoring system, but do try them at all other times - they are quite a challenge and the best ones occur when you've forgotten about them altogether...
