I'm new to FSFS (barely used it for an hour or two, but am excited by the possibilities) and wonder if there is a glossary of terms or explanations of what the instructors actually mean?
e.g., if it's possible to list all the recorded instructions and a short explanation of what it means and/or what keys/what actions to take as a virtual pilot.
There are too many for me to ask one after the other. Besides, I think if I did, it'd start to annoy people...
Did a search here in the forums and in the manual but couldn't find such a list...
Thanks...

Hi It does not currently exist, but this is something we are looking at and I agree it would be a handy reference to add to the manual. In the meantime, I understand you don't want to produce a long list, but if we can help in any way, please let us know.

I would greatly appreciate such a list, because I admit, it gets frustrating at times.
For now, the explanations can be kept short - at the very least, what actions one should take given what the instructor says.
(Please, please, create such a list...at least please begin one...)
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Thank you for keeping me (and all of us) posted. As I said before: I sure hope this is not too much of a bother being such a long post . I decided the easier thing to do is to listen to the audio files (rather than try to write it all down during the simulation) and list a couple here that I need help with. What I would really like to know is what steps to take or what (default) keys to press (or at least do a search for in the key list) in order to respond to those audio instructions? Thank you in advance.
Some of these I have a little understanding, but when it comes to exactly what to do to respond, then I'm at a loss.
The audio files in question (for now) are:
BadLandingHeading
Ballooning
BasedOnNav1OBSRunwayHeadingIs
CircuitBase
CircuitBaseNiceAAL
CircuitBaseTurnToFinal
The question here is more how to respond to cross-, down-wind stuff:
CircuitClimbTo500
CircuitClimbTo1000
CircuitDownwind
CircuitHoldCrossWindHeading
CircuitLateForCrosswind
CircuitLateForDownwind
FailedToKeepConstantDME
FlightDirectorActive
ForTheLocalizer
FS_FAIL_PITOT
FS_FAIL_VACUUM
IfYouTuneADF1ToTheNDBAt
IfYOUTuneNAV1ToTheVORAt
InnerMarker
The question for these is more what the different light switches are:
LightsBeaconOff
LightsLandingOff
LightStrobesOff
LightsTaxiOff
Localizer
LostGlideslopeBeforeFlare
MiddleMarker
MixtureMayNeedLeaning
NAV1OBSCrosswindIsLeft
Ndb
NotFacingIntoWind
OuterMarker
RetractSpoilers
RFuelAtDestination
RTransitionAltitude
SBITUMINUS
Smacadam
UseTrimmers
WeCanApproachOnRadial
WeCanUseTheADFNeedleToFlyACourseOf
How do you respond to this when the instructor asks:
WhereEmergencyLanding
And within the c172 folder:
AvionicsMasterSwitchOn
CheckOilPressure
Enginegeneratorswitch
FlareAdvicePitch
Lots of detail to the following, but it'd be helpful to see it in action in a video for example, or at least to start off, step by step explanations of what to do:
ListBeforeLanding
ListColdAndDark
ListDescent
ListRunUp
ListShutDown
ListTakeOff
Thanks again...you know, as a flight sim enthusiast who wants to get to the next level (and not being a real world pilot), when I get the hang of this I'd be happy to write a review speaking from the point of view of one who just started out and seeing the potential for this program. I have a feeling it'll speak to many.

Hi again. We hope to have some good news for you soon on this subject. Watch this space and also watch your email. Note - some of the files you've listed are not flight instructions and indeed a few of them are not even used yet in FSFS. Here's an example of what you can expect to see from us soon... "You're flying too fast - slow down" Reduce or cut all throttle(s), extend airbrakes if available and raise the nose if this will not overstress the aircraft. Reduce IAS or Mach setting on autopilot if used. Gear and flaps should not be used to slow the aircraft as they will be damaged.

I look forward to it!
1. Yep, of the list above, I just took the route of listening to the sound files rather than try to jot down the stuff in-game (yes, simulator, I know)
2. For the one you have below, how does one reduce IAS or Mach setting? I suppose I should do a search within FSX...please, let me know when I ask too much, but meanwhile, it's a learning curve for me and I hope I don't give up...
thanks!

IAS and MACH controls are on the autopilot which is a whole subject in itself. It would be best to look at the FSX docs for that.
