hi fellow fs fans
i first created a new pilot and set almost all checkboxes
for an aircraft i select "FSFlyingSchool Data" and in game i choose the Moony
i setup an ILSflight plan in fsx and chose my aircraft etc,
then loaded the flight plan in flying school 2010
one thing that i find rather strange is that here i get the message "FSFS2010 runway data not present"
this is from KMIA to KOPF
now i connect FSFS to FSX
i hear the instructor and he seems to recognize what i am doing,
i takeoff and land at the next airport using ILS and the instructor seems to respond to everything,
he corrects me with glideslope, speed etc
and when i land he also tells me the score (which i was missing when taking off)
as i have "End flight when:" set to "Stopped & Brake set & Eng(s) off" i taxi to a parking and park, turn off the engines etc
now i call up FSFS (while the game is still running) and i can see the log with a summary of the points etc
FSFS is still connected though, so i hit "Disconnect" and now i get "No logged flights in this FSFS session!" in the log
when i try clicking "Career Analyzer" i get the message "This pilot has no logged flights"
the same message appears when clicking "View Full Pilot Log Book" or "Traditional Log Book"
when clicking "Pilot Briefing" i get 4 empty text boxes and a dropbox with a path for a different user than mine
i have also tried reinstalling FSUIPC4 (which is running in registered mode)
how can i get FSFS to actually save my scores etc?
thank you in beforehand

Hi It sounds like everything is working 99% - do not reinstall FS or FSUIPC - they are working fine. You should generate the runway data for FSFS2010 at the settings page of FSFS. As to the lack of pilot data being saved, it will only save when the flight ends which is when you will see a final score at the log book tab of FSFS. If it still does not save after that, I recommend that you try creating a new pilot and if that does not do it - reinstall FSFS2010 in a new folder, but leave FS and FSUIPC alone, and then try it again.

great i got most of it working by creating a new pilot again =)
i tried your tip with the settings tab:
i loaded everything ready for takeoff (flightplan loaded etc)
then clicked on "generate runway data" - the button turns gray
when i go back to flight plan it still shows runway data not present
so i click the button "Generate runway data for FSX & quit FSFS"
so FSFS closes, i open it up again and go through all the setting,
but still no runway data (even if i click on "generate runway data" again)
the other thing, when i click on "view ful pilot log book" now
my browser pops up and with path "file:///C:/Program%20Files%20%28x86%29/FSFlyingSchool/PilotRoster/enigma.htm"
and the page displays "File not found"
might that be because there is not enough data?
"pilot briefing" etc show me data (so there appears to be enough data for those)
thanks for your help

It sounds like the runway data is failing to generate. It would normally take several minutes to generate so it is not the sort of thing that you would miss if you blinked. This problem is usually caused by a Windows security issue. Please make sure that you installed and you run FS and FSFS and FSUIPC all as the same user and that the user in question has administrator rights in Windows. Otherwise, FSFS may not be given 'permission' from Windows to create the files it wants to create. Please take a look at this and let us know you get on. As to the log book file path - does that path and file actually exist on your PC?

yep, in this case a batch screen popsup and after 0,5-1sec it vanishes again
ok, i checked almost everything
- fsx.exe run by MyUser
- FSFlyingSchool.exe run by MyUser
- FSUIPC is running but i cant find it in the task manager, hence i dont know under which user its running
or doesnt FSUIPC run under the fsx.exe?
MyUser has administrator priviledges
reguarding the book file path, the path actually egsists and contains:
- an Images directory
- a HeavyIron.plt file
- and a LightSpeed.plt file
but no enigma.htm
ah ye, i also checked the priviledges of the folder and the administrators group has full access

HR: You sound like a savvy user - can you execute the following two programs, in this sequence, in your FSX folder? (The programs will have been placed there already by FSFS). 1. MakeRwys.exe Then - when it has finished... 2. FSFSRWYS.EXE They should both take several minutes and when done - you should have all your runway data for FSFS to use with FSX. As to the problem with the pilot log book... So.. the folder does not contain a .PLT file for "enigma" which I imagine is the name of a pilot you have created? Can you try a couple of very short flights using an existing pilot like lightspeed and see what happens? Very short flights can be done by flying for 30 seconds then landing - that's all you need. There are so many different things that could have happened during installation etc that I find what is often the best policy with a log book problem is to simply try a few different things to "shake something loose" - and usually one of them works. This is usually: (1) use an existing pilot OR (2) make a new pilot OR (3) reinstall FSFS to a new folder Note - I mentioned reinstall FSFS as a last resort. Note also that we NEVER (as far as I recall ) recommend reinstalling Flight Simulator to solve an FSFS problem. Please let us know how you get on.

IT covers a big part of my life
there seems to be a problem
i couldnt find MakeRwys.exe nor FSFSRWYS.EXE in the fsx directory,
instead i found them in the FSFS directory.
when i try running MakeRwys.exe i get the message:
Failed to make Runways CSV files!
Failed to make FStarRC RWS file!
Total airports = 0, runways = 0
when i try running FSFSRWYS.EXE:
some sort of window pops up and vanishes again (really fast)
soooo i tried copying those 2 *.exe files to the fsx folder,
then ran MakeRwys.exe - this time it actually does a few thousand things and takes ages
but at least thats a good sign
ok, so it finished with a total of 24490 airports and 58017 runways and all files created successfully
after clicking ok, i go and run FSFSRWYS.EXE - which now takes ages too
that all seems to work perfectly now, thanks
the other part with the log ill have to try tomorrow, have to go to bed now - work tomorrow
ill let you know as soon as i tried your other steps

There must be something up with FSFS having access to your FS folder. Part of the process is that FSFS copies those 2 applications into the FS folder - and this evidently did not happen. Regardless - you have manually solved the problem - so that part of this case is closed.

it works!! well except for 1 new problem
i tried several things, new pilot, egsisting pilor, regranting all folder/file priviledges etc
eventually i uninstalled fsfs and reinstalled it under C:\FSFlyingSchool while before it was located under program files
i created a new pilot, generated runway data etc and did a test flight
and the full pilot logbook is being written now
maybe i can mention that im running windows 7 - maybe that influenced whe whole thing
about the other problem
normally when you want to tell fsfs you are finished taxying or taking off etc you can press ctrl+shift+z
well, i am pressing it but fsfs wont react
i tried closing and opening everything again, which wouldnt help

ok, i went through a few other threads and found one indicating to open fsx 1st and get ready to fly
then open fsfs and connect
amazingly that did the job, even though before i could even start fsx after fsfs and the hotkeys worked
ohwell at least it does the job
thank you very much for your help squadronleader
