Just got the 2010 version with the C172 pack. The circuit command in the 2009 version worked fine but not with the 2010 version. Tried anything I could think of: restart FSX, shutdown/reboot computer, make new flight plan, make new flight file, used CTRL-SHIFT on either side of the keyboard. I am out of resources... ALL other CTRL-SHIFT commands were tested and worked fine. Please advise.

Mario:

There has been no change to the mapping of the circuit mode keys in FSFS2010 and this is the first such report we have heard, all of which suggests that there must be something unique, or that has changed, in your PC configuration.

Are you seeing the text messages in FSX for the usual FSFS events such as changing your flight mode?

What happens if you quit everything, launch FSX and get into the cockpit and then launch FSFS2010, press connect and then press Ctrl Shift Space?

Hello Squadron Leader. Thanks for replying. I tried what you suggested and I do see all the flight mode messages, the display info, the number of errors, etc . Started FSX, changed plane, jumped in the cockpit and tried all the commands and the alternates; they all work except for the circuits. I have flown circuits before and they are still recorded from the FSFS 2009 version.

Should I reinstall FSFS?

Your time and support is appreciated.

Mario:

Just a thought - have you tried
Ctrl Shift 4
which is the Circuit Mode alternate key?

Let's not reinstall anything just yet - I don't want to suggest something that might mess up your accumulated flight data.

I havent flown circuits in 2010 yet, and havent even submittet more than a single score, I think, in 2010, and right now my computer is down, due to a broken power supply, BUT, I was thinking, sometimes the most obvious solution is forgotten, so I ask stupidly!

Do you have to meet the scores needed to enter circuit mode, when you upgrade to a new version, like 2009 to 2010? If Mario has upgraded to version 2010, and havent sumbittet scores yet, then could this be the reason that he cannot enter circuit mode?

Perhaps its plain stupid, but now I have asked!

Regards
Ole Andreasen, Denmark

Hi Ole - good point.

If you don't have the scores to get into Circuit flying a text message explains this to you on the screen and I am thinking that Mario would have mentioned this, but I could of course be wrong.

Mario...?

Thank you for your interest gentlemen. Ole, nice to meet you for the first time.

I also thought that the cause of the problem may be the lack of prerequisite scores with this 2010 version. I have yet to perform these, and will try soon to report.

If this is the problem, it seems to me a bit strange that FSFS 2010, while letting you carry past logbook records with circuits scores would require you to do get the basic circuit requirements again.... food for thoughts... for upcoming versions.

On a different topic, I would like to acknowledge the following improvement. The latter version of FSFS 2009 and FSFS 2010 are more silent than before, much better! The "use your trimmers" sentence was so repetitive in the older versions that it became really annoying, especially when you flew in cruise mode with very little attitude or vertical speed variations. I am really glad it is more quiet when nothing happens, PC Pilot stated it well: Silence is Gold.

Thanks!

Yes, Squadron Leader, I tried CTR-SHIFT-4 but nothing happened.

Have you seen such a message?

If not, then this is not what is blocking circuits.
