Hi, I've been trying to get the different flight modes happening but all to no avail. I've tried CNTRL/SHIFT/1 and CNTRL/SHIFT/z but nothing happens. Then I thought I'de try it in my registered version of FSUIPC, but no one tells us how to find FSFS in FSUIPC? Please help Cheers Hank

Hi hank This may provide the answer to your question on FSUIPC, if I read it right Open the "search" box in fsfs forum- (top right hand side) and enter "FSUIPC" The search will provide you with a post by "Squadron Leader" on interfacing FSUIPC The post is entitled "Using FS Flying School with FSX" but also mentions FS9. The Squadron Leader is the man, together with Ole, who have all the answers on fsfs matters. Biggles PS There response is usually VERY VERY fast (minutes / hours) I guess they must have got lost whilst flying the "Carribbean 100 Tour"

>> I've been trying to get the different flight modes happening but all to no avail.I've tried CNTRL/SHIFT/1 and CNTRL/SHIFT/z but nothing happens. We've had this reported before, several times, and the answer is almost certainly that you need to get your plane ready to fly - you are sitting in the cockpit - before you start the FSFlyingSchool program. Once you are ready, launch FSFlyingSchool and then press the Connect button. Do not launch FSFlyingSchool before this point. >> Then I thought I'de try it in my registered version of FSUIPC, but no one tells us how to find FSFS in FSUIPC? 1. Just to be clear - you do not need a registered version of FSUIPC to run FSFlyingSchool. Get one if you want to - but you do not need it. 2. If FSUIPC is installed correctly and appearing on the Add-ons menu of FSX or the Modules menu of FS2004 - that's it - you're all set - nothing else to do. Please let us know how you get on. Finally - Please note that we do not benefit from sales of FSUIPC, but we are always ready to say that it is a wonderful, award winning program and any flight simulation fan would do well to take a good look at the benefits of owning a registered version.

Biggles: >> The Squadron Leader is the man, together with Ole, who have all the answers on fsfs matters. Many thanks for the kind words Old Chap - absolutely wizzard! >> PS There response is usually VERY VERY fast (minutes / hours) I guess they must have got lost whilst flying the "Carribbean 100 Tour" Ha! The chance would be a fine thing! Flying tours...? Oh - very nice! Not 'round here Old Bean. I've got software to write, Beta testers to appease, award ceremonies to attend, and I mean look at these shoes - I've only had them 2 months, and what with my 'back problems'... ... don't get me started... Squadron Leader, Thank you for your reply... I guess I have been opening SFSF before choosing an aircraft. That is fault one. I'll give it another go doing it your way and see what happens. My FSUIPC is registered (I realize it doesn't have to be) and is installed correctly as it shows up in my "add ons" bar. However, if I want to use one of my buttons on my CH yoke to go through the different modes that FSFS scans through, in the drop down menu in FSUIPC there is no mention of SFSF. My question is, how do I get my button on the yoke to go through the different modes? Sorry if there is an easy answer to the problem that I haven't found. I realise you are very busy... so thank you for answering so far. Regards Hank

Hank: Always glad to help! Good to hear you have a registered version of FSUIPC - it's a great program. Also good to hear you understand you don't need it for FSFS. Regarding your button and key mapping... This will all be described in detail in the FSUIPC documentation, which is very generous and detailed, even with the free version. But - just so everyone knows what can be done with registered FSUIPC... Right now I am in front of FS2004 with FSUIPC 3.xxx, but I am sure a similar approach will work for FSX and FSUIPC 4.xxx Key mapping with FSUIPC is only possible with the registered version. Note - once again - everyone - you do not need the registered version to use FSFlyingSchool. Get a plane on the ground. Go to FSUIPC from the Add-ons (or Modules) menu in FS. (What follows is for FSUIPC 3.xxx) (At Buttons and Switches tab) "Press the joystick button you wish to program" (At this point press a button on your controller) (Turn this checkbox on) "Select for key press" [x] (Turn this checkbox on) "Key press not to be held" [x] "Press the keys to send when you press this button " (Hold down - for example - Ctrl Shift Z) (...and then press the "Set" button)
That's it! The button you picked on your controller will now advance the flight mode in FSFS.

SL: This I didnt know!
It will solve all my software issues with the Saitek controllers I´ve been having. I will buy FSUIPC at once, and start mapping.
FSUIPC is even better than I thought.

Ole: Glad to be able to spread the word. Any sim fan who has a few minutes to spare would be well advised, in my opinion, to take a look through the docs that come with FSUIPC. There is a mountain of stuff in there and it may very well convince you that you might want to register that splendid piece of work. Please note that we do not benefit from sales of FSUIPC, but we are always ready to say that it is a wonderful, award winning program and any flight simulation fan would do well to take a good look at the benefits of owning a registered version.

Squadron Leader, Thank you for your quick response. I've been out for dinner with friends and it is now 00:30hrs local time (Tasmania) but I will put your excercise to use in the morning and report back. I'm glad my question also helped Ole. I've been using FSFS quite a bit more now that I have upgraded to version 2009. I'm still doing bumps and grinds at present because your instructer is a very hard taskmaster and I've only once been able to score a 78% for a landing at Launceston Airport. He is very finiky isn't he? Thanks again for your prompt replies. Regards Hank
