CYEG to CYYC (Feb 4th, 2009)  Edmonton, Canada to Calgary, Canada

[Press Conference]

Joe Mini takes the podium at Edmonton International airport.  As usual a small crowd is gathered even though several full page ads in the Edmonton Inquirer clearly stated that I'd be in town.  JoeMini clears throat, belches, and farts on cue.

"Lady and 4 gentlemen, this is a proud day for JoeMini World Wide Tour.  It is the final leg of what has been a wonderful around the world flight.  I would like to thank the Wayne Gretzsky hockey hall of fame for kicking off my tour sponsorship.  With hard economic times, I'm looking for all kinds of funding support."  [No clapping]  "Sheez, I hope there will be more support later?"  Wayne are you ready for your flight?  Wayne...Wayne...where are you going?

Dreary day to start out my quest to make it around the world.

Passing the city skyline.  Space Needle and the Cagary Saddledome.

Well how's the 1st landing going to go Smitty?  As usual, rusty from not flying in a while.

Landing Score:52.10                 Flight Score:133.92

CYYC to CYVR (Feb 7th, 2009)  Calgary, Canada to Vancouver, Canada

One of the prettiest place in Canada - Vancouver.  Home of the next winter olympics.  Planning on making a cameo appearance at the kickoff Olympic festival.  I'm proud to say JoeMini WWT will be a pround corporate official airline of the Winter Olympics.  Thanks Vancouver.

Dang Runway 26R ILS is messed up and I refuse to land in the grass.  So I'll take a zeo, and dang it...I almost hit it perfect.

I am sorry Joe, for your trouble. Its really annoying when the ILS is not pointing at the runway. BUT Joe: The beauty of the FSFS2009 is that all runways are covered as non-ils runways, so when you discover that things are going to be messy. Just roll the dial on the Nav1-OBS setting, so the ILS signal is lost, then go to FSFS flightplan tab, and make sure that its set to the runway in question, and land a visual. Then the ILS is not a problem. runwayfiles are ALWAYS correctly made if you havent changed anything with addons, since you made the runwayfiles autoprocess.

That way you can still make an ok landing - if you can make an ok landing...

 See you in Miami...

Regards
Ole Andreasen, Denmark

CYVR to KPDX (Feb 8th, 2009)  Vancouver, Canada to Portland, OR

What a great city to visit.  Never been here in real life, but it's on my list to visit.  Well the olympics seem to be in order.  Fired up the 747 again, and see if we can't nail a good score for a change.

Beautiful backdrop....water, land, and mountains.

Ok...looking really good....lining up nicely in the Rose Garden State.

Crap-ola....off again...Gosh dang it...I stink.

Landing Score:57.00           Flight Score:161.87  (Crappy landing way off center, but check out the flight score...

Landing included the following problems:

  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.
  • Not near the centre line - you can do better.

KPDX to KSLC (Feb 8th, 2009)  Portland, OR to Salt Lake City, Utah

Ladies and Gentlemen, JoeMini WWT Tours is now proud to announce Hawaiian Airlines as a new member of the team.  Albeit, a little lost in there normal route, but we'll take all sponsorship we can get.

Off to do some snow skiing in Salt Lake City.  I've been here before many times.   Heading up to Park City and to Alta for some fresh power snow.

Raining like cats and dogs.  Check out the 2 Fed-Ex planes landing in tandum...can you say FSX ATC problem?

And then the rain lets up, what a view looking over at the mountains.

Closing in on the Great Salt Lake, and then the the clouds came pouring in...but the sun going down made the sky look pink...cool!

Cool sky line and the lights are on.  Bring her down JoeMini

Centerline baby....Come on Smitty if you know what's good for you.  I'm not putting up with your crap tonight...Bring me a big number.

Landing Score:147.75     Flight Score:158.96  (Thanks Smitty)

KSLC to KSFO (Feb 10th, 2009)  Salt Lake City, Utah to San Francisco, CA

Well we had a nasty spill trying to ski down a Black Diamond run.  It was ugly and I managed to take out a few trees.  Sore and Tired, I had to spend many hours in the hot tub.  Visited the Mormon Tabernacle and all the downtown touristy stuff.  Neat city in the mountains.

When I was growing up, one of my favorite planes to fly on when I was a kid was the DC-8.  It was a luxury plane for Dad's airline Delta, now it's a UPS freighter but still cool.

Followed this crazy Southwest Airline pilot in the sky.  All over the place, so I think I'll stay a little low.

Coming in over the Oakland side.  Downtown SF in the background.

Looking really good again...19L.  Oh man...I nailed it.  SF International full of 747's everywhere - JAL, United, American, Delta....cool airport.

Landing Score:147.00      Flight Score:164.07

KSFO to KLAS (Feb 14th, 2009)  San Francisco, CA to Las Vegas, Nevada

Early morning flight.  I've got a lot of money to spend, so where should I go?  Why Vega$!  Took a lot of pictures....sorry!  Had a great time down on Pier 39, and did a tour of Alcatraz.  Been here also in real life so it brought back some fun memories hanging onto the old time trolleys up and down the downtown SF area.

Check out all the AI traffic on the runway.  Nice job FSX again.

Flying over the Golden gate bridge, the Presido, and Alcatraz below...awesome.

Looks like another good one Smitty?  Will you obliged with a good score?  Gosh dangit....It's not FAIR!!!!

Landing Score:8.70            Flight Score:104.36  (Got a dang Autopilot used coming in over the mountains...gotta talk to Squadron Leader about this later...)
Autopilot used.

KLAS to KLAX (Feb 14th, 2009)  Las Vegas, Nevada to Los Angeles, CA

What a night in Vega$.  I was looking sharp in my tuxedo.  Something out of the movie "Indescent Proposal" and a little "Jame Bond Casino Royale" I was a huge winner.  Won a massive Texas hold'em tourney, took in a cabaret show, but never caught up with Demi Moore to ask the proposal question.  But that's ok, I've got a pile of cash now to support the rest of the WWT tour, so I'm in good shape, unless I wreck another jet....

Big pile up of Southwest planes, so I'm waiting patiently.

Thought this chainlink fence was a cool shot.  Downtown Vega$.  Cool city all lit up.

Downtown LA.  Had to fly out over the ocean and back around.  Framerate is getting hammered...hope I can get it down.

Lining up nicely.

Landing Score:47.18        Flight Score:157.59   (Come on Smitty....sheez)

KLAX to KSAN (Feb 14th, 2009)  Los Angeles, CA to San Diego, CA

One day to try to fit everything in LA, but I managed to do it.  Went to Hollywood and star in an upcoming action packed movie.  Went to Disneyland.  Went to the famous beaches of Southern Cal.  I've been asked to host the Oscars next year, but I turned it down.  I don't need all the notoriety of a movie star.

I never rains in California?  Air Tahiti in the background.  Now there's a long flight.

Famous ground tower of LAX.

Short flight to San Diego, but I think the whole flight I was on the horn with ATC.  Sheez.  Just shut up for a minute.

Downtown San Diego in the background and off to the right is San Diego's Naval base. You can barely make out a aircraft carrier.

Dang it...just a small bit off, but Smitty must have been feeling sorry for me.

Landing Score:130.09             Flight Score:136.19

KSAN to MMCU (Feb 14th, 2009)  San Diego, CA to Chihuahua, Mexico

Had a fantastic day in San Diego.  Went to the world famous San Diego Zoo and Sea World.  I've actually been to those as well in real life.  Then spent some time in Mission Bay roller blading and watching the people.  Even went up to LaJolla and watch those crazies jump off the cliff with their gliders....awesome!

JoeMini WWT Tours is proud to announce that Mexicana Airlines will now be a pround sponsor flying through the Mexican Skies.  Thanks Mexicana!

Looking down the San Diego Skyline.

Nothing much happening on this flight.  Chihuahua is located in the middle of a bunch of mountains.

Man was I way off on this landing....I floated way to the right and just couldn't get it back...dang it.  Hang on people!

Landing Score:127.65      Flight Score:142.02
