SL:

I made a new topic as you see, so others can benefit from your hardware thoughts.

These ones are from Simware

I can see the radiostack (and I didn´t mean that it is expensive in reference to what it can do - I just don´t have €300 to spend on hardware)

I can see the MCP, and the CDU, but not a FMC, could you point me directly to that one?

Ole:

It's the CDU. FMC and/or CDU - terms used for the bit you type your flight details into. There are reasons for the difference but I gotta run...

SL: I did some research on the terms....

CDU = Control-display unit
FMC= Flight management computer

Thank you SL have to get used to try and find out myself before bothering you...

As the saying goes, the CDU is really the tool that allows the crew to interface with the FMC, but some folks just call the CDU the FMC, which is not technically true.

You're 'Hardware' forum is very timely indeed. I've just finished 'tuning' my Flight Sim computer.
It's a thing of beauty - EVGA Ultra790i motherboard, Quadcore, Corsair 1600 memory, 2x9600gt video cards.

The reason I'm even mentioning this ? EVGA forums & support answered each of my questions, and posted 'basic' settings for this motherboard.

Their customer support is ALMOST as good as FSFlyingschool !!

Of course that doesn't mean I can fly 'worth a damn' but I'm trying. My instructor keeps giving me 'zero' and 'you missed the centre of the runway'.

My wife was in hysterics when I told him to "Shut the Fxxx up and get out. It's my plane, my game, and you didn't pay to fly with me !!"

Congrats on a great FS tool

Hey there Biggles! Good to hear from you again.

Congratulations on your new system. So now you can play FSX on some high settings? Man it´s beautiful when settings are way over to the right. (I can see it, but when I do, I get framerates about 1 to 2, so It´s a beautiful slideshow for me....) Can you post some screenshots, so I can drool?

And it sounds like your addicted, like the rest of us, to Mr.Smith and all the other instructors, (You should try the others too) It feels great to shout at them when they don´t do you justice!!! ()

Wow - it must be fantastic!

Of course that doesn't mean I can fly 'worth a damn' but I'm trying. My instructor keeps giving me 'zero' and 'you missed the centre of the runway'.

In all seriousness - getting zero can often be caused by some small misunderstanding about what the instructor is looking for or how to set up FSFS for a flight. If you have any questions at all, please let us know.

My wife was in hysterics when I told him to "Shut the Fxxx up and get out. It's my plane, my game, and you didn't pay to fly with me !!"

Entertaining spouses is something we concentrate on here at FSFS - it is our mission to amuse them so that their partners can fly whenever they wish.

Congrats on a great FS tool

Thanks for the kind words - we'll be quoting you if that's OK Biggles.

Yep Ole - shouting at instructors is such good therapy!

Let it all out!

How does that make you feel?

In flight, fit of rages are also good cardiovascular excercising.  Throwing punches at each other works the upper body really well.  Right now, I believe Mr. Smith is winning with over all record, but I believe I'm leading in TKO's now!

Yep Ole - shouting at instructors is such good therapy!

Let it all out!

How does that make you feel?

It makes me feel powerful! But then again, when thinking about expressing temper towards someone who is not to blame, I always come to think of a small piece of the lyrics from Pink Floyds "The Wall"

When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would
Hurt the children in any way they could
By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids
But in the town, it was well known
When they got home at night, their fat and
Psychopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives.

So I only shout in silence, expressionless, or slightly smiling on the outside, screaming on the top of my lungs, on the inside.
