(Ole provided this information to help Naki) Hello Naki.
That was my very first problem in FSFS. I realized that it was because I had not set the path to my Flight simulator, in the "settings" tab. And of course make sure your Flight simulator is up and running, and you are ready to fly. Could be that...

Hello again Squadron Leader.
First of all let me thank you for your very quick reply and also for the interest you have shown in order to help me, it is really appreciated, and can I also add that your manner comes across as really genuine, and this to anybody who like me is a retiree and never brought up with computers and is self taught is very comforting.
I will do as you have suggested shortly, but there is something that I have come across and wonder if this could be the problem. When I go to C:\ PF\ FSFS\ FSUIPC.dll and check the .dll it shows up as version 3.7.0.0 could this be a reason? as I know we should have a FSUIPC version4. Bye the way it is a boxed set v1.9.2 bought from FlightSim Store in Australia.
Regards
Jim.

Hi again - you can ignore the FSUIPC DLL - it would have been installed for you in the right place in Flight Simulator if you used FS2004 - you are using FSX and so it does not concern us here. Yes - you need the latest version of FSUIPC version 4 point something ("FSUIPC 4.xxxx") - which you either install from your FSFlyingSchool CD if it is on there (it is in the later versions) or download as directed in the manual and elsewhere on this forum. The best way forward is for you to send the screen shot - there are so many questions we'd have to ask before we get that so please send it as soon as you can and we'll get you up and running!

Thanks for the screen shots - the important parts are these: The installer for FSUIPC version 4.xxxx does not approve of the current state of the FSX installation on the PC in question. It looks like the PC has FSX, udated to SP1 and then updated to Acceleration. Is this correct? And is FSX running fine? Was the PC ever updated to FSX SP2? (Not same as Acceleration) Ever had a problem with the FSX installation processes at any time? I will take this up with the tech support of FSUIPC and we'll get this sorted out.

Kia Ora Sq. Leader.
In answer to your questions, at the moment I only have acceleration installed, but I have installed and uninstalled FSX a number of times and tried all the different ways that I could install SP1 and SP2, and I am sure, but it ís possible I suppose SP1 and Acceleration although I hope not.
I have never had any trouble with FSX which I have had since it first came out onto the market. I only have a few addons namely FSCommander X, WOP fighters and heavy bombers, DHC-6 Twin Otter and the mission pack for it, Orbx FTX and FS Approach. I hope you can sort this out for me as it looks an excellent program.
All the very best,
Jim.

Jim: This explains a lot - it sounds like FSUIPC sees things in the installation, left behind as a process of installing FSX and/or SP1 and/or SP2 and/or Acceleration... that it thinks indicate a problem. Microsoft advises the following: "You must install Service Pack 1 before installing Service Pack 2. After you install Service Packs 1 and 2, do not reinstall Service Pack 1. If [you] install SP2 and later purchase Flight Simulator X: Acceleration, you must uninstall SP2 before installing Acceleration. If you have already installed Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion pack, do not install Service Pack 2." Can you give me your best shot at a full history of what was installed or uninstalled on the PC as far as FSX, FSXSP1, FSXSP2 and FSXAcceleration are concerned? As I said - I am working with FSUIPC technical support to see what we can do. I am hoping we don't have to go down a road which says "install everything for FSX from scratch" would I would certainly not expect anyone to do.

Kia Ora Sq. Leader.
I sent you a PM, I hope to received it ok.
It is starting to look as though I have to delete FSX and start again. Can I leave my addons or do they have to be uninstalled as well.
Regards
Jim.
