hello, I just purchased FSFS 2020 for x plane 11, and after installing and testing it out a little, I went through the "generate runway data & quit FSFS" process. after closing and reopening, i got the following error:
"Error: 13 - Type mismatch
location: LoadRunways
File Read: c:\Users\micky\Desktop\x-plane 11\FSFSRwXP.txt
Status: Processing runway line 20388"
looking at the referenced file FSFSRWXP.txt (note that the error read of the 'w' as lower case but the actual file is all uppers) this is what I see, including the line before and after:
20387 16|166|N49_22_1227|E26_55_8195|3|UKLH.UKLH|1150|7189|140|||CONCRETE||166|49.349569|26.937603||KHMELNYTSKYI|-1|49.368711|26.930325|N

anyone had this problem before? the only way I can get the program to work is by deleting the files generated above (fsfstaxi.txt, fsfsrwxp.txt) but then I keep getting horrifyingly low approach/landing scores and in the log it says its because there's no glide slope or alignment data available. I've tried this at several airports ranging from non-towered to international airports with ILS and it's the same at every one, no glide slope or rwy alignment info available. I'm guessing that generating the runway data is needed in order to solve this problem, but generating the data breaks the program!!! please help!
also, here's a link to the full fsfsrwxp.txt in case that helps...
fsfsrwxp.txt
edit:
I just wanted to add an excerpt from my log book clarify whats going on:
Landing included the following problems:
No glideslope information was available on visual approach.
No runway alignment information was available on visual approach.
Landed without a proper approach OR off runway surface.
No glideslope - could not compare flare to glideslope.
this flight was from and to KSBP (san luis obispo, Ca) on rwy 29 which has a 4 light PAPI system and ILS available (but not tuned)
I'm inferring that it can't find the necessary info because I haven't successfully been able to generate runway data, right?

Hi Andorian:
The problem is that there is an airport with an invalid name in your X-Plane installation.
It involves the "[X]" indication in their name. There are many such airports.
There is an airport called, for example:
"[X] Coyner Airstrip"
and this is no problem at all.
The problem was caused by an airport called:
"|X] Marigny le Grand"
The problem is that the X is not surrounded by a left and right square bracket.
It is not like this [X]
but is like this |X]
and as we can see the character is not the left square bracket.
NOTE: Marigny le Grand is the only airport which has this problem.
There is no problem whatsoever with X airports - the problem is with the "|" character in the name of this airport.
We have reported this to the X-Plane airport site so that this can be changed in the X-Plane airports data.
To solve this on your PC you can delete the TWO LINES for this airport in the FSFSRWXP.txt file in the X-Plane folder.
Just open the file with notepad and delete the two lines for this airport...

I have the same problem. I successfully installed & registered FSFS 2020 for X-Plane. Created my runway data. First time, it worked fine from what I could tell. Next attempt, I get the error 13 type mismatch message. No matter WHAT airport I am ready on with the standard c172 in XP 11. How am I supposed to find every airport with an X in it messing up FSFS?

Hello,
I have the same problem but almost all X airports names are with the format |X| which means I have to delete a lot of lines. It explains also why when being in front of the runway I always have the message 'you are not aligned' (with XP11 only). The set of characters [X] is not generalized and does not exist in the corresponding P3Dv5 file.
Thank you for comments
Best regards

Hi:
Glad to help!
I am very sorry to read that you have had a problem with this - thanks for your detailed report - this helps a great deal.
This issue is unfortunately due to one airport in the data from XP which has an incorrectly formatted name.
The problem is specifically that the airport has
"|"
in its name - it is not related to having "X" in its name.
We have solved this issue - please download the following file...
http://www.fsflyingschool.com/download/FSFSXP2020/FSFSRWYS.exe
and place it into the following 2 folders...
1. The folder in which FSFlyingSchool is installed on your PC
2. The folder in which X-Plane is installed on your PC
Once this is done please launch the file you downloaded and placed into your X-Plane folder (double click on FSFSRWYS.exe in Windows File Explorer)
This will create a fresh set of runway data for you.
After this you are all set to use FSFlyingSchool.
You will not need to do this again.
As you can imagine, we are working to publish an update to FSFlyingSchool which contains this new version of the runway data program so that pilots will not have to take these steps!
Have a great weekend of flights!

Hello,
Thank you for answering but the problem is not solved as my AV (McAfee) has detected a virus and blocked the connection. I tried again after having added the file in the AV excluded list. I was surprised to have again the AV message. I continued and launched FSFS with the new FSFSRwXP.exe. As a result I got a CTD and a complete disappearance of FSFS. I installed it again but again CTD. Perhaps it would be better to put the exe file in a zip file before transmission for avoiding AV message ?
Best regards
PS I launched the new fsfsrwys.exe file (the one downloaded despite the AV message) and the XP11 folder "default data\earth_nav_data" was destroyed.
I had to run the XP11 to create it again.

Hi gerodcray:
>> Thank you for answering but the problem is not solved as my AV (McAfee) has detected a virus and blocked the connection. I tried again after having added the file in the AV excluded list. I was surprised to have again the AV message.
This is very puzzling. As you can imagine, if you told your security software to allow a file to function, it will be allowed. Otherwise the security software itself is not functioning correctly.
>> I continued and launched FSFS with the new FSFSRwXP.exe. As a result I got a CTD and a complete disappearance of FSFS.
I am not sure I follow what you are describing. Are you saying the complete FSFlyingSchool folder was deleted from your PC? Nothing in FSFlyingSchool does anything like this (it does not delete itself).
>> I installed it again but again CTD. Perhaps it would be better to put the exe file in a zip file before transmission for avoiding AV message ?
I see your point but this seldom makes any difference as almost all security software will detect this.
>> I launched the new fsfsrwys.exe file (the one downloaded despite the AV message) and the XP11 folder "default data\earth_nav_data" was destroyed.
Rest assured our software does not delete folders. If you were not able to find the folder something else caused this.
The good news is that folks all over the world are using the new
FSFSRWYS.exe
so all that is needed is to download and run it successfully on your PC.
Do you have any other security software on the PC? It is entirely possible that more than one security program is running at the same time.
Please let me know so we can get you up and flying.
