Hi,
I have previously contacted you by e-mail regarding the problem that FSFS will not load.
As you requested, I have checked that I am registered as an administrator, and this is the case.
I wondered whether the fact that I purchased the programme as a download from PC Aviator could be the problem,
so I uninstalled that from my computer and re-downloaded the demo version from the FSFS website, but the same
problem ocurred again.
Now I wonder if I had purchased FSFS as a CD from your site, might that solve the problem?
I have previously given you all of my system specifications and you should have these on file with my original e-mail
but if you require them again, please advise me and I will again forward them to you.
I did reply to your e-mail suggesting that I check to see that I am designated as an "administrator" but have received no
further follow-up from you to date.
Would there be any point in my purchasing the CD version direct from you?
Please advise.
Alex.

Alex:

We have been tracking this one down and you should have been notified by email that we were doing this - apologies for you not having received such notification.

I am going to put the details from your previous comms here so it is efficiently tracked:

Error: 429 - ActiveX component can't create object
Location: FileExists

The 'Windows Script Runtime' can often fix this error.
Would you like to visit Microsoft.com to download it?

Yes   No

Hello.
I am unable to start FSFlyingSchool.
The above is the message I get when trying to start your program.
I downloaded the Script Runtime mentioned and installed it,
but the same message appears when I try to start the FlyingSchool
program from the desktop.

I bought the program from PC Aviator as a download and got the license
e-mail from you today but am unable to
complete the licence registration because of the above message,
consequently I cannot run the program.

My system information is as follows...
.
Windows version XP ..Service pack 2
Flightsim 2004 with authorised update.
FSUIPC version 3.81 registered version.
3Megs RAM
Athlon AMD 2500+ processor
NVidia Geforce 7600 GT video card
FSecure virus protection running from ISP.
Internet connection enabled.
O&O Dick Cache running.
Flightsim Add Ons....Active Sky 6.5
                  FSNav registered version
                  FS Global 2008
                  EZ Landmark
                  EZ VFR
                  FlightDeck 4&5
                  World Environment Pro
                  Ultimate Night Environment Pro
                  Ultimate Traffic.
Please note that these add ons are installed, but not enabled when I try
to run FSFlyingSchool, since the FS9
is not running when I get the questionable message given above when
trying to start FSFlyingSchool.

No problem - always glad to help.

This sounds like a permission problem whereby the user does not have all the security permissions needed.

There is no need - we certainly would not want you to pay again and you'd be getting the exact same product. The CD is the same as the download - they both contain the demo program which turns into the full version when it is registered. CDs are sold with registration keys of course, but you'll already have that.

Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000 would normally fix this and is available here.

We don't know what you downloaded yourself of course - it may be the same thing but I would ask you to go to this link and download and install, just in case there was any misunderstanding or ambiguity.

Please let us know how you get on.

Have you any idea of the extent of my excitement when the programme started!!!
Apparently the missing Windows plug in as downloaded from Microsoft was corrupt and when I downloaded it from the link supplied by you,
all was sweetness and light!
I made my first circuit at Waukegen Illinois and such was my excitement that I received aboslutely no points from my instructor, although my landing was reported smooth and gentle with my wings level. That's something I guess since I hold a Private Pilots License in real life and have over 400 hours with DC Airways Virtual Airline.
I have now registered the programme so all you guys had better watch out for a "no points pilot" flying all over the place.
One more point re the realism of your product.....I can now relive the white knuckes and sweaty palms that I remember from my pre-solo days.
Many, many thanks for your help.
Sincere regards,
Alex.

Soo...I didn't see the magical answer I have been looking for on the message board today. I did however determine how to fix my particular situation!

All I had to do was go into the properties for the executable file and tell it to run as administrator AND under windows xp service pack 2.

Thank all for the information you have provided. I will definately be enjoying this program a lot in the near future.

Thanks again!

Alex:

Thanks for the kind words about FSFS and glad to hear you're up and flying.

Regarding the scoring, FSFS is looking for things to be done a certain way and there are a lot of things which can be misunderstood about the product. If flight modes are not understood, you'll lose points. If the landing procedures are not understood, you'll score zero points. NAV1, NAV1 OBS, NonILS files all need to be understood in their context within FSFS.

It sounds like a lot, but it's really just a few points which have to be addressed each flight.

I always say that it's like the autopilot on a big jet - it'll do lots of cool things but unless it is understood the user will get frustrated and give up.

This is all covered in detail in the manual, so please have fun reading it - it will lead to a lot of fun while flying FSFS!
