I have a question for you - we have just released a version of FSFS for X-Plane 9 which has text captions on the screen which show what the instructors are saying.

We figure this helps:

- Folks who have hearing difficulties

- Folks who are not native English speakers

- Folks who have a hard time keeping up with fast pace of some aspects of flight

We are about release the same feature for the FSX/FS2004 version of FSFS and of course we realize that the captions could be used to provide a simple non-English version of the instructor's words.

We'd like to know if you, or any member of the FSFS community would be interested in creating a series of translated phrases for their own language.

We would submit their work to others who speak the language to be sure that the translation is basically accurate and that there are no inappropriate words in it - and then we can offer everyone the translated versions of the caption text - all free!

Yes - having translated voice files would be better, but of course that is a great deal more work and the great thing about the captions is that as the technology is so simple to work with (all the captions are just in a single big txt file) anyone can have a go at it!

We realise that in some areas extra program logic would be needed to get the wording correct, especially in the case of numbers which in French and German and other languages are not "assembled" in the same way as in English, but a simple translation would still be a big step forward.
