Hi

I recently purchased FsFlying School Pro 2014 P3d2 (purchased on 15/6/14). I am running a Win7 64bit machine. Everything works on fsflying school except the voice command pack. The microphone is set so that the correct soundcard is used although I have had to change my rig as you do not allow separate cards for mic input and audio out. This really effects you if you are using 2 soundcards for your audio and engine noises because it means you have to use the mic input on the same card as the headphones. The program shows on the notification bar that the mic is turned on but no response from the program. Voice commands work fine through windows programs and notepad and the machine has gone through the tutorials for speech recognition. Microsoft's voice recognition is not on when FSflying school is on. I can tell that the microphone is picking up the input from watching the mixer bar. You cannot tell if FSflying school is not receiving any input or if it cannot understand what I am saying, there is just no response. Is there any way to check if the program is receiving the mic inputs?

Thanks

Ken

Hi Ken:

If you turn on the display of text "captions" at the Pilots Screen of FSFS this may help test it.

Whenever you say something into the microphone to the instructor there is a good chance that it will cause "Roger" to appear as a text caption.

If you say a standard command it should always appear there.

If nothing ever appears no matter what you say - then FSFS is not listening.

In most cases this is because although all settings are correct, FSFS will only work with one sound device on the PC and that one must be chosen. Please try it with all of your listed devices until one of them works - this method is usually all that it needed - find the one that works and save that setting.

As you can imagine, even if your mixer shows input and Windows speech recognition is working fine, unless FSFS has the right sound card in use - it will hear nothing.

Finally can you please confirm that you do hear sound from FSFS for all its other functions and features - that is - the instructors are talking to you.

Please let me know how you get on.

Hi

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have checked all of the cards on the computer, this has given no response unless the card with the headphones is chosen so that you then hear Mr Smith through the headphones. All other functions
seem to be working in FSFlyingSchool. I have tried the mic in different cards to be sure that is not the problem. I have also tried the program with different planes with the same result. I tried FsFlyingSchool in the demos flight area even though mine is registered but still no difference. With the display captions in FsFlyingSchool enabled there is still no response from the sim. I also uninistalled FsFlyingSchool, turned off Kaspersky, reinstalled as administrator and have the program running as an administrator with no difference.

Hi Ken:

What mode have you chosen for microphone control in FSFS? (Settings Screen... Voice Command... Status)

I've noted that on at least one Win 7 PC here at FSInventions we have FSFS output audio going through non-USB speakers and input from a USB headset microphone (so 2 different devices are involved). So it's certainly possible to mix and match output and input.

As a test please try the other cards in FSFS - I think it very likely that one of them WILL respond to microphone input even if there is then no audio output. Once that is established we can progress to working out how to get the audio out.

Hi

Thanks for your input. I have tried FSFS in all three options for the mic ie no commands, on all the time and on by 5 key. I swicthed to the no commands just to see if FSFS would respond once the mic option was changed back to 5 key or all the time but still no response. I have audio through to the headphones or the main speakers as set by the sound card preferences but still cannot get any response from FSFS as far as voice commands. The captions never show in FSFS that the program is hearing me. I have tried all of the cards in FSFS with no response to the mic.
