Afternoon to all
I today decided to upgrade my 2009 pro version to the current 2014 version, i have tested this and i am currently getting no sounds from this software what so ever! I have tried selecting all available sound card settings from the drop box and obviously the Default settings, but still nothing....

Hi Jonathan:
The sound technologies and configurations used for FSFS 2014 are the same as those employed for FSFS 2009 so this is something of a puzzle.
Did FSFS 2009 sound work on this PC with the current hardware connected to it? If so, how long ago?
What happens when you press the 'Listen to Instructor' button in FSFS 2014?
Try double clicking on some of the WAV files in the SOUND folder of FSFS 2014 within the Windows Explorer. Any sound? Which application attempts to play them?
Are you using any non-standard Windows software at the same time, such as Skype?

Having just tried the sound files from the Folders this works (Windows media player), on pressing 'Listen to Instructor' there is nothing
This worked in previous version this year when i used last!

Hi Jonny:
What a puzzle!
It could be related to permissions I imagine, so can you try this...
You should always launch FSFlyingSchool as an administrator or Windows may prevent certain operations.
To do this just right click on the icon which launches FSFS and choose "Run as Administrator" - you can also indicate that this is a permanent choice in the "Properties" of the icon - accessed by a right click - in the "Advanced" button on the "Shortcut" tab.
Please try that and let me know what results.

Hi Jonny:
We are looking at this here, but have no leads at present - I see that you tested this using the demo and recommend that you do not upgrade until you are happy with the results on that PC.
Something on the PC must have changed since the last successful run with FSS 2009, but at present we cannot see what it is.
Please let me know if you have any extra data or feedback and I will do likewise.

Just a thought - if you turn on the captions in FSFS - do you see them on the screen when the instructor should be talking? To keep it simple - try this with MrSmith as the instructor.
Also - I gotta say this... 
Make sure that pilots screen "Disable Sound" is OFF in FSFS.
Aircraft screen "volume" set to normal.
Try different instructors.
I know you already did this but... it is likely that only ONE sound card will work - that is - you have to select the right one. Some folks have tried this a little "hastily" shall we say and have missed the one they need.
Just thoughts...!
