Hi Steve:
Thanks for the data!
Please rest assured that the circuit training logic has been in place in FSFS for 4 years and works fine for 99% of folks - we just need to determine what is different on your PC.
FSX is telling FSFS that the autopilot has been set - but we really need a plane with an autopilot to run this test.
Can you try this in an easy plane like the FSX c172 - which definitely has an autopilot.
Also - please make sure failures are off in FSFS so that they do not interfere with this test.
Do not use the Voice Command Pack (if you have it) while running the test in case a command is issued by mistake due to background noise reaching your microphone - let's keep this test simple.
I am not sure if we are clear on the "NAV1 OBS" - this is the dial that surrounds the VOR1 instrument which takes the signal from NAV1.
This is not the heading indicator (which is the one which is reset with "D"). "D" should be used frequently during the flight to make sure the heading indicator is showing the real heading.
The NAV1 OBS must be set to the runway heading before takeoff.
Please let me know how you get on.

My mistake on using the failures, and a plane without autopilot on the circuit. I should have used the DH6 Twin Otter Canadian throughout all of this, it definitely has the autopilot.... I will use the stock c172 as per your advice, brush up on the NAV settings more, then get back to you on the revised data. Thanks for your help sir!!!

Hi SL; I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back on this. I did three FSX flights in the Cessna 172SP, one with autopilot, and two without. The autopilot flight wasn't close to hitting the legs, and my non-autopilt flights were much better. I can't seem to run the C172SP autopilot on FSFlying School correctly, I guess... I pm'ed the flight maps. My flights aren't bad (except the approaches and landings could be better), and the call-outs for the crosswind and the downwind legs seemed correct. So for the most part, it must be working right, my hitting the 'base' and 'final' legs correctly, need to improve. My problem with Circuit Training in FSX now is this: I start a new free flight from scratch with no flightplan, but the circuit training keeps referencing my 'saved default flight' in FSX (which is KCOI to KXML in the C152II Carenado Calypso). It will show the waypoint in the FSFS databar as KCOI, even though I am not flying with a flight plan with a waypoint, and a different plane altogether -and with the default C172SP, nonetheless. I start with any airport (in this case it was KCAK -Akron-Canton Regional), but it still shows either KCOI or KXML waypoint in the FSFS data bar (I'm trying to get a screenshot of that, but it flashes way to quick to do so). I did the circuit flights with the NAV1 set correctly (being I'm getting the constant NAV1 pings in my headset during the flight in-cockpit, and it shows it correct as ICAK in the flight report).
I pm'ed the data to you, so you will see what I'm talking about as far as what I'm seeing... Possibly there is a problem within FSX on my pc conflicting with FSFlying School, idk. I don't seem to have near the problems running FSFlying School with FS2004 as I do running it with FSX... Thanks.

Hi Steve:
Thanks for the report and the data!
It sounds like you are making very good progress and the only real issue now is the business of the irrelevant waypoint showing in the FSFS data text on the screen in FSX.
I can only imagine this is because you have the "Auto-Read FSX Flight Plan" option turned on at the Flight Plan screen of FSFS. If this is the case then every single time you press "Connect" in FSFS it will take the flight plan to be whatever FSX currently has in its memory.
This can be the case even if you have not loaded a flight plan, by itself, into FSX but have loaded a flight into FSX which was saved when a flight plan was active in FSX.
The simple solution is to turn the "Auto-Read FSX Flight Plan" option in FSFS off, so that is does not look at the FSX flight plan, and instead load FSX flight plans into FSFS manually at the Flight Plan screen of FSFS whenever you want to - and note that they can be loaded during a flight if you wish.
Note that FSFS does not have an option to "Auto-Read Flight Plan" for FS2004 and thereby the issue cannot occur.
Please let me know how you get on!

That was precisely the problem, and all is well now -thanks for your help SL!
