Hank: Always a pleasure to help an enthusiast! Yeah - MrSmith is a hard master, but a fair one. Stick with him (or his friends) and you'll soon be getting those world record scores.

Hi Squadron Leader, Sorry for the delay in replying. Your directions in hooking up the FSUIPC for the different modes has worked fine. Thank you. Now the only other problem I have is: When I have my aircraft running (I have full screen mode) I then press my "start" button to get back to the desktop to click on FSFS and hit "connect". Then I have all sorts of trouble to get back to the flight sim. It is on the "bar" at the bottom of my screen; but when I press on it,the whole screen freezes up. Is there some way around this? Couldn't FSFS run as an "add on" from the FSX control bar? Cheers Hank. P.S. Still doing bumps and grinds at Launceston, slowly improving.

Hi Hank
Excuse me for, once again, bumping in on SL´s terratory.
I highly recommend that you fly FSX in windowed mode, it is commonly known to improve framerate, and it gives you advantages regarding FSFS, as you can just click the program on the bar in the bottom of the screen.
Hovever if you like it better to fly in full screen, then I suggest that you alt-tab back and forth when going to or from FSX/FSFS. That worked fine for me until I started using windowed mode. Now I would never do anything but. I have other programs that I click on and off inflight, so the windowed mode is just great.
Your desicion.

Ole, Feel free to jump in. I'm sure the Squadron Leader has enough of these foolish questions coming through and appreciates the help you give. Thank you for your advice. I was told on another forum that full screen mode was better for fps's in FSX, hence that is why I've gone to that mode. Will go back to windowed for the convenience of using FSFS. Thanks again for your prompt reply. Cheers Hank

Advice on FSX has become somewhat religious. There are so many who will tell you this and that, (myself included) Heck I might even be wrong on the framerate advice ( windowed mode). Truth is I havent been able to se all that much difference, but then again, I jerk around with settings all the time so...
BUT nomatter if its one or the other, I still very much prefer the windowed mode for the reasons above.

Hi guys - Thanks for helping Hank, Ole. We generally run in windowed mode when developing and it certainly does make it more graphical (obvious) for switching between applications. But I often fly in full screen mode. FSX is a bit slow sometimes when changing applications using ALT TAB, but it gets there in the end, and you can swtich back to it by clicking on the task bar or of course just pressing ALT TAB again. If find this effect to generally be the case with big memory hungry apps like FSX and games like Total War - when you ALT TAB out of them you have to wait a while for the PC to change to "no-longer-using-the-whole-screen-in-graphics" mode...!
