Hi -

Just an idea - can you please download and install the latest version of FSUIPC 4 and let me know if that makes any difference?

Hi -

OK - a couple more questions...

1. Are these airports add-on airports?

2. What happens when you try an approach which is over land - nowhere near the water?

Hello,

1. Both airports are add-on airports from Aerosoft.

2. If I approach LPPT from land, there is no Splash!

3. At LPFR both approaches are from the sea, and there is always a Splash!.

Kind regards

Arndt

I have just tried to replicate this...

I use Win7 Pro 64 bit, English. FSX Accleration. I use FSUIPC (registered) version 4.70b

I started by loading standard flight in FSX, using a DC-3.

Then started FSFS and went to approach function, chose LPPT, rwy 3, 20 miles out (100 KIAS) with default scenery..

NO problems

Then I installed Aerosoft Mega Airport Lisboa X (LPPT) and tried the same - but without updating the runway data.

NO problems

Finally I updated runway data and did the same again...

NO problems

Cannot and have never ever experienced the "Splash" over neither water or land using the Approach function. It works flawlessly on my system.

Hello,

I am using Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, English, FSX Acceleration, FSUIPC (registerd) 4.80.

1. I disabled the Aerosoft Lisbon and Faro sceneries. But I am still getting the Splash!, when approaching from the sea.

2. Instead the Carenado C210T, I used the RealAir Duke 60. I am still getting the Splash!

Strange!

But it seems, that I am the only one with this kind of problem. Others cannot replicate it. And for me every approach over land with different planes is fine. So even for me it is a limited problem. Therefore I suggest to close this thread. And: Thank you for your support!

Kind regards

Arndt

Hi -

I believe we have 2 such reports of this issue - it is very uncommon, but we are trying to replicate it on our systems.

Can you tell me which airport this occurred at, and your version of FS, version of Windows, version of FSFS and version of FSUIPC?

To all:

Regarding FSX announcing "SPLASH" when an approach is started over water...

We've received only a tiny number of reports of this issue.

We've done more testing since I wrote last about this issue and we have found on some PCs there seems to be a direct cause.

If you press CONNECT to start an approach and at that time the plane is on the ground - it will cause the "SPLASH" result in FSX as soon as you un-pause FSX after it loads the approach.

If you press CONNECT to start an approach and at that time the plane is in the air - everything is fine!

At least we've found a workaround for folks having trouble with this!
