Note - Not all pilots fly the Cessna 172 and this product is therefore offered as an optional add-on for FSFlyingSchool2009 (and FSFlyingSchool2010 and FSFlyingSchool2011).

From today, Cessna 172 pilots can get a whole lot of extra detail in their FSFlyingSchool experience with the new FSFlyingSchool2009(and FSFlyingSchool2010) Cessna 172 Detail Pack.

Anyone with FSX or FS2004 can try out the product right now by simply downloading the latest (new today) version of FSFS2009 version 2.3 from our web site, here:
www.fsflyingschool.com/download/FSFlyingSchool_2009_Setup.exe

This new version contains a free demo of the Cessna 172 Detail Pack, in which you can fly with extra Cessna 172 treatment while inside the FSFlyingSchool Demo Area near KORD:Chicago.

If you like the experience and would like to fly anywhere in the world with the Cessna 172 Detail Pack, you can purchase a key for the Detail Pack from FSFlyingSchool's web site for just $9.95.

Note that the product is for FSFlyingSchool2009(and FSFlyingSchool2010) - not FSFlyingSchool v 1.9.2 or earlier.

What does the pack do...?

Modelled on the Cessna 172 included with Flight Simulator, it can be used with any Cessna 172.

Just some of the dozens of different aspects of flight which will cause your instructor to talk to you, with specific reference to the Cessna 172, include: start-up, taxi, run-up, takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, landing, shutdown, correct "v" speeds, use of flaps, fuel quantities and range, and use of battery, alternator, fuel selector, fuel cut-off, ignition key, fuel pump, and a whole lot more.

It also includes a number of Cessna 172 checklists you can request to be read by your chosen instructor.

There's a lot more detail here

http://www.fsflyingschool.com/Features_Cessna_172_Detail_Pack.asp

and the free demo contains the full manual for the product so you know exactly what you're getting.

It's free - give it a try!

SL,

How do those of us lucky enough to already be registered owners of FSFS2K9 try this out?

Do we install the new version and demo fly around Chicago?  If so, will that affect otherwise normal FSFS2K9 operations?  I'm due to transfer down under later this weekend.

Fenric.

Yes you just install the version 2.3 and you are set to try out the detail pack in the demo area. Its great. Soon as you leave the demo area, the detail pack will stop working. this will not affect anything in your flying anywhere else, so just hit Sydney as you please Fenric, with version 2.3.

Olé, Ole!
Thx, and here's hoping that I don't crash into you very very soon.

Hi!

Here's something I just wrote to another FSFS fan elsewhere in the forum - I think it will be useful here too.

This product is unusual because it is an add-on for an add-on - there are not many of those around.

In brief:
- it is not free ($9.95) - this buys you a c172 detail pack key allowing you to fly with it anywhere
- it can be tried for free in the demo area - just download FSFS2009 v 2.3 (or FSFS2010) and fly a c172 near Chicago O' Hare (KORD)
- it contains lots of new instructor logic and new phrases with which the instructors watch and speak to you specifically about the c172
- it has no effect at all if you are not flying a c172
- it is not an aircraft - not at panel - nothing we have not explicitly described
- the c172 key works only with registered versions of FSFS2009 (and FSFlyingSchool2010)
- version 2.3 of FSFS2009 contains the free demo of the c172 Detail Pack - nothing else is new in v 2.3
- FSFlyingSchool2010 also contains the free demo of the c172 Detail Pack

1. Is this version identical to my 2009 version, apart from the C172 upgrade?

It is identical to FSFS2009 v 2.2 apart from the c172 detail pack demo and field to enter the c172 key if you buy it.

2. Will it have any effect, flying another plane, or will it "think" its a Cessna and give the wrong information?

No effect unless a Cessna 172.

3. Must I purchase the upgrade to see it working?

No - fly a Cessna 172 in the demo area and you'll get the new "deluxe" treatment! As always - we let people try before they buy.

4. Will it work for ANY C172 (You mention that it will, but I just need confirmation).

Yes it will - note that as mentioned in the manual it is modelled on the most common one - that is - the Cessna 172 included with Flight Simulator itself. When using a 3rd party Cessna 172 product add-on,  the aircraft being modelled by the 3rd party may not be quite the same (a different variant of the Cessna 172).

There is a lot of extra information here

http://www.fsflyingschool.com/Features_Cessna_172_Detail_Pack.asp

and note that when you download FSFS2009 v 2.3 you now get the full manual for the FSFS2009 Cessna 172 Detail Pack.

I just purchased the FSFlyingSchool 2009 - Cessna 172 Detail Pack #659 from http://www.pcaviator.com/dlstore/  and they gave me a url to download the product.  I downloaded it, installed it and all it was was the demo version.  I did not get a product key for the add on.  I guess I was expecting a key code to intall so I can fly at my local airfield with the Cessna 172 detail.  Got any ideas other than getting back to the folks at pcaviator to get the key code?

I guess after looking at the sales posting it does say the manufacture will email the product key code. Thanks for the reply.
