I just downloaded and installed the new May30 version of FSFS Pro. I have registered version. I go through the normal routine of starting FSX and getting in cockpit. Start FSFS. Click connect button and get the "FS Flying School connecting" message. After that nothing. FSFS does not recognize what plane or mode I'm in. I get no response to changing modes. I've tried both with demo of Voice Command at KORD and with the standard ctrl-shift-Z and X. Have shut down the system, rebooted - no change. Uninstalled and reinstalled FSFS. Still no luck. Only other thing I've added recently was the FSWidget electronic flight book app. Uninstalled that and rebooted. Still no luck. Running out of ideas.

Hi:
This is a very strange puzzle.
There is nothing new in the technology of version 5.7.2 that should cause any such problem.
Of course, it is always necessary to launch FS first and get into the cockpit before even starting the FSFS program, but you have done that.
I cannot say whether the installation of the FSWidget program could have had any effect - it is always possible for the configuration of your PC to be different even after the uninstall of a program.
We never make any claim that FSFS will work with anything except FS and FSUIPC, but having said that, folks all over the world are using it with loads of add-on programs, airplanes, etc.
"FSFS does not recognize what plane or mode I'm in. "
After you have heard "FSFS connecting..." and returned to FS and made sure that it is not paused, if you return to the FSFS aircraft screen, what aircraft does it think you are in?

Not sure how or why but after a couple more attempts of uninstall, reboot, reinstall etc I got things working again. Pretty much sums up my week I do have one more question. With the voice command feature, when the responses come back: are they supposed to be spoken or just show up as text? Mine are only showing as text.

The voice command replies from the instructor certainly are spoken - and you can also see them as captions if you wish.
Which instructor are you using? (Not all instructors support all features). Please try with MrSmith (who supports all features) and let me know what you get.
