I don't understand how FSFS rates the landings. I find the results very inconsistent. As an example, I landed a 747 on 2c in Singapore. I touched the ground about 50 feet short of the runway, bounced on the runway, did some ballouning before setting the plane on the runway too fast and not centered. My landing was rated at 118,one of the highest score I ever received: Aircraft: BOEING ID: Airline: Flight: Flight plan: CYVR TO WSSS NAV1: ICE Failure(s): None at landing Failure Event(s) (Zulu Time): None Failure Bonus:0% Flight Duration:00 Hours 09 Mins 39 Secs
Landing Score:118.54 Autopilot used.
Landing was successful in the following areas:
- Good glideslope on ILS approach.
- Good alignment with runway on ILS approach.
- Wings were level.
- Glideslope held until flare.
- Good pitch control after touchdown.
- Good pitch at landing.
- With flaps - good job.
- With spoilers armed.
- Heading aligned with runway.
- Good steering after landing.
Landing included the following problems:
- Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.
- Too fast - you had to force the plane to stay down.
- Throttle(s) forward - should be idle.
- Ballooning during landing - needs practice.
I landed a 737 on 33R in CYYZ and I looked at it many times with FSX Instant Replay feature and to me that landing was almost perfect. The only remark FSFS made was "too Fast" but I landed at 140 Knots which is I believe well withing the speed range for landing a 737 and I get 77 pts! I don't understand: Aircraft: BOEING ID: C-GSRA Airline: Air Canada Flight: AC737 Flight plan: CYOW TO CYYZ NAV1: ILE Failure(s): None at landing Failure Event(s) (Zulu Time): None Failure Bonus:0% Flight Duration:00 Hours 19 Mins 43 Secs
Landing Score:77.84 Autopilot used.
Landing was successful in the following areas:
- Good glideslope on ILS approach.
- Good alignment with runway on ILS approach.
- Gentle touchdown.
- Wings were level.
- Glideslope held until flare.
- Good pitch control after touchdown.
- Good pitch at landing.
- With flaps - good job.
- With spoilers armed.
- Heading aligned with runway.
- Throttle(s) idle.
- Good controlled final descent to touchdown.
- Good steering after landing.

How does FSFS rates landing?

Hi - glad to see you are trying FSFS with different aircraft - and heavies too! (From the manual): Scoring is affected by visibility and wind at your destination airfield and by the weight and speed of the aircraft you are flying. Failures affect your score in proportion to their length and severity. The manual has a lot more detail. So - the 747 is harder to control than the 737 and that's why you scored more for it even though the landing was not so good. The FSFS instructors prefer landings that are less likely to result in the aircraft having a tendency to keep flying down the runway, that is, at slower (though safe) speeds, but this is something we are looking at adjusting "up" a little as they could be a little higher. To score more points, just lower that speed a little. If you have 30 or 40 degrees of flaps you have a lot of room. Finally - try it all without the autopilot and the score will go up a good deal. Hope this helps.
