I am having difficulty with the Voice Pack I recently purchased.  I followed the instructions in the manual and I already had voice recognition installed (I am using XP and it is version 5.1).  I configured it though XP and worked through several of the recognition training sessions and had no issues.  It is somehow not translating to FSFS 2010.  I am using version 3.4 and have had the 172 pack installed for some time.  Brilliant program with no issues until now.  FSFS 2010 does not recognize a single command from me.  I tried using the "always on" settingand using "5" to activate the mic.  No go either way.

The only issue I can think of is that I am using a USB headset (microsoft lifechat).  The instructor audio is configured to come through my headset.  Any ideas?

Our experience is that USB headsets may cause issues with FSFS Voice Pack, but I don't think these were ever issues that could not be resolved by changing sound related settings.

We don't have much hope of being able to recommend specific settings to you. It all depends on the multitude of different variables that comprise a PC nowadays.

This is of course one of the reasons we offer all products as free demos so folks can try them out first to be sure they are happy with their performance.

I would suggest that you try things without the USB headset for voice input and see what results you get (if you have another mic available).

Please let us know how you get on and we will try to help where we can.

I didn't even think to try it out at KORD first since the other parts of the product were running so good.  I use the USB headset so I can listen to ATC through headset and the engine sounds come through my computer speakers.  Adds a little immersion.  I guess I will experiement but this is dissapointing.  Lesson learned I should have tried it out first.

So any chance of using default input device or choosing USB or other in future releases?  Similar to choosing the sound out device already in the program.

I understand completely what you mean about the effect of the voice in the phones and the engine via the speakers.

We have found that whereas USB headsets may cause issues with the Voice Pack, I don't think these were ever issues that could not be resolved by changing sound related settings.

It's just that I can't suggest to you what do to as there are too many variables (PC, config, versions, hardware, etc) and can only suggest you perhaps try changing some of the settings for the headset.
