Hi,

is there any way of getting the feedback that the Voice Pack provides from the Instructor with "Voice Recognition - Off" ?

I have the voice pack installed, but would like to be able to get for example the answer to "Flight Plan remaining" or others per key stroke instead of Voice Command...

Thanks.

Hi:

This is something we've given considerable thought to and the Voice Command Pack (VCP) is not only a good way to immerse yourself in the simulation, but also helps with the keystroke problem in FSX.

The fact is that almost every possible key combination that we can process has already been mapped to a key in FSX.

We have considered assigning keys to some of the commands in the VCP, but they would be pretty awful combinations like Ctrl Shift F11, most of which could not be performed with one hand.

Sure, old hands at FS will soon figure out how to assign this or that to a joystick or yoke button, but as you can see, the issue is not a simple "no brainer" one.

Even if joystick mapping was used, you'd need over 20 buttons to do them all.

But... this is something was are looking at and we may indeed offer at least some of the most useful ones as key commands soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's clear to me that not every response can be mapped to an individual Key stroke. What I would imagine is either a "toggle key" where you can move through the different commands or a dialog box with choices similar to the ATC window.

Just a suggestion, since not everybody might be willing to speak to his/her computer, but still likes to have the instructor acting more as a co-pilot, which I think is a nice side-effect of the VoicePack.
