Hello folks.

I will apologize in advance if this has been discussed before... Im a newb here and a quick search revealed no results...

I just finished my 2nd flight with FSFlying School. I will say I am disappointed.

I am a student pilot in real life. My real life instructor showed me how to enter a pattern before landing. Without going into many details, this morning flight, Im approaching the airport from the east on a heading of 265 for a left downwind for 17.

As my real life training says, I should be at 1000 ft AGL when entering my downwind to have my plane at 500 ft AGL when in Final.

Mr Smith kept saying that I was too high. So I went lower, He didnt shut up until all VASI lights were red and of course I was too low to perform a good landing. Also, this was a Visual Approach with no ILS equipment at the airport, yet Mr Smith kept looking for it.

I will ask... What is Mr Smith looking for when entering the pattern?

As I read in the manual, I am supposed to be at 1000tf while in the pattern, so then whats up?

My flight was VFR from KPRX LNC KFWS. I am flying FSX with Acceleration These airports have default scenery.

Any help will be appreciated, since my intention in buying this software was to help me in my real life training while getting rated at my performace.

OK, I found a similar post

Even when it explains the issue better than I did, it still remains without any answer...

Any ideas?

Hi -

I am sure that the issue is setting up FSFS so that it knows what you are doing.

Getting an instructor to know where you are and where you plan to land is a very complex proposition and FSFS requires that the pilot give it the information it needs.

Which version of FSFS are you using?

Did NAV1 have an ILS signal - it needs to have none (not merely unknown) to do a visual approach?

What flight plan was filed?

Was the flight plan loaded into FSFS?

The flight you described will work fine once everything is set up correctly.

Please answer the questions and we'll see how we can help.

FSFS is used by thousands of real and simulator pilots worldwide and has been recommended on multiple occasions by AVSIM.com, Computer Pilot Magazine and PC Pilot Magazine.

It works great - we just need to get you set up correctly.

Hello Squadronleader.

Please see my reply below..

Which version of FSFS are you using?

FSFS 2009

Did NAV1 have an ILS signal - it needs to have none (not merely unknown) to do a visual approach?

I do not recall this. But its a possibility

What flight plan was filed?

Was the flight plan loaded into FSFS?

Both plans were the same and the one posted above

From what you have reported I can only imagine that an unwanted ILS signal might be the culprit.

Can you try a flight where you have no ILS signal for sure, perhaps at a different airport so we have more data?

Also - you must of course have the FSFS flight plan page set up for the specific runway you want (not just the airfield).

Please let us know how you get on.

Im sorry but I really dont understand what is going on.

I tried another flight. KFWS to 52F

None of them have localizer. My radios are NAV1 117.2 stby 113.7 NAV2 117.6 stby 116.8

Still... Mr Smith keeps saying "Lets get down to the glideslope" He wont shut up. The PAPI lights are all red and he still wants me lower!

Upon approach he did say "We will be making a visual approach" and... I will be rating your landing on the rw you specified in your flight plan.

Of course, he rated me zero on my landing. And my rating says " GLideslope held until touchdown" (??????)

I dont know... I am extremely frustrated with this piece of software that I dont know if I will ever fly it again.

I tried to use the Cirrus SR22 and Mr Smith wanted me to pull the gear up. Yeah right... lemme get a saw for you!

Jeez...
