Just out of interest - what do your friends an family make of your hobby?

Does your spouse or partner pat you on the head   when you announce a perfect landing?

Do they roll their eyes   when you shout at MrSmith or MissAviatrix?

Do they think you should get out more...?

We'd like to know...

Typical Life of JoeMini:

1.  My family knows I am totally a flight-sim fanatic.  I work in the aviation world, so it actually gives me some relaxation time to enjoy a flight or two every night.

2.  My wife thinks I'm a total nut when I can't understand why I was "robbed" of a good landing score in my mind.  Her sympathy..."ahhh poor baby...."  Rolls her eyes, and can't figure out my avid hobby of flight simming.  It's just the quest for posting that "high" score and trying to better my flying skills!   In fact, my daughter was kinda watching me land, and said, did your instructor rob you again....all I could do is turn and chuckle at her.

3.  Well right now, my wife is in school getting her masters degree, so really she could care less what I'm doing.  That being said, once schooling is over, I'm sure the tables will turn, and I'll be in trouble for flying so much.

4.  Finally, I've made great friends on this forum, enjoy my long-distance internetting, and look forward to talking to them all the time.

The FSFS product is awesome and can't recommend it enough to new comers.

Well with me it really has become a big problem. My wife keeps asking me when am i going to grow up. She just doesnt understand when i make my anouncement, this is your captain speaking etc. To the un educated i can well understand  why when the other day i set out all the chairs behind me and made my wife and freinds sit behind me reading there in flight magazine. O the shere bliss and the power.

Remarkable so similar the stories we can tell.

I too seem to have a family that thinks Im a nutcase. A grown man playing the computer??? And all I can tell them is. Little do you know fellows; Pappa dont play the computer - Pappa is flying! so run along now, Pappa just recieved takeoff clearence!

The kids roll their eyes, as does their mother and they look at each other with that let-him-play look on their faces. I would have beat some sense into them, but just then I got the "OK Lets rotate" from Mr.Smith and so I didnt get to do it. Well another day!

Just saw a side comment in an article that the average age of gamers is 35, so it is not so much a kid's thing anymore. Also, the computer gaming industry generates more money that hollywood. The recent release of COD:MW2 beat all kinds of movie benchmarks.

I saw an expert on a TV show the other day who said that as far as the toy industry is concerned, its typical customer is, statistically, an adult.
