I just bought FSFlying School and I finished a simple VFR flight on a C172 from KHPN to KBDR (20 miles). I have three questions:
(1) When I parked on KBDR's GA parking lot, I shutdown the plane and I got a message from the instructor "general electrical failure"; it looks like FSFlying School did not get that I was finished. How do you tell FSFlying School that the flight has ended?
This is detected automatically. It depends on how you have indicated in the FSFS options (flight plan page) that you want the flight to end.
Note that if you pick the 3rd option you must cut off your fuel (mixture) or jet fuel shut off and you may need to do this with the keyboard if your yoke or other controller fails to do this completely. As the manual tells us...
FSFS-Tip
In some aircraft, cutting off the fuel is difficult to achieve using the mouse with the on-screen aircraft controls, such as fuel mixture or jet fuel cut off, and so you may need to use Flight Simulator’s standard Ctrl+Shift+F1 to cut off the engine(s).The electrical failure is discussed in a post I wrote today here in the forum - please see there for details.
(2) How can I save this flight in the logbooks? in page "Log book", if I click on one of the log books buutons (View Full Pilot Log Book" or "Traditional Log Book") it says "pilot has no logged flight".
Log book entries are made when a flight ends - so long as they "end" you will get an entry.
(3) Then in the same page I noticed that my score is weird: could you comment on the report below:
-- where is all the other info about my flight (starting, taxiing, taking off, cruising, descending) ? I connected FSFlying School while the C172 was still cold & dark in KHPN, and I only disconnected it after I shut it down in KBDR GA parking lot.
Again - it is because the flight did not "end".
-- there was no electrical failure (I just shutdown the plane after I was parked)
See above.
-- I did have to leave the runway centerline to get to the taxiway, what else am I supposed to do not to get the "* Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line." ?
This will happen if you leave the center line while you are still in landing mode. Once you slow down enough or you advance to taxi mode using keys or you stop, you will leave landing mode and then you can turn off the center line without being criticized.
-- why do I get a 0.00 for a landing score ?
This is most likely because the landing was a visual approach landing 832 feet from the touchdown target. This is all explained in the manual. I recommend that you start with ILS approaches as they are actually easier to practice in FSFS than visual approaches. Again - please see the details in the manual.
Thanks for the great program!
Thanks for your kind words! Can we quote you? We are always looking for quotes.
