whenever I set up a landing approach with Cessna Grand Caravan 208B the fsfs recognizes the plane, and every time I land - the Mr Smith always says the same thing "From where I'm sitting it looks like you've crashed the plane." Failures are checked at 66. Difficulty settings are always hard. tried looking in the profile for the 208b plane, but that checks out "retractable gear = 0. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Please help. Thank you!

Flight Score:0.00 (Flight did not include take off...)

Flight commended in the following areas:
* Smooth turns.
* Nice banking.
* Correct matching of flaps to speeds.
* Comfortable G forces.
* Smooth pitch control.
* Flown within aircraft's maximum speed limit.
* Gentle taxi turns.
* Appropriate position of flaps during taxi.
* Safe taxi speed.
* Smooth braking during taxi.
* Well coordinated turns.
* Pitch not too high.
* Pitch not too low.
* Flaps down on time.
* Approach speed not too fast.
* Low altitude speeds not too fast.
* Good clearance of obstacles.
  
Flight included the following problems:
* Wings not level near ground - danger of clipping a wing.
* Dangerous stalls - don't let that happen again.
* Rapid descent - dangerous and uncomfortable.
* Poorly trimmed aircraft - trimmers are there to help: use them.
Definite room for improvement...

Sorry to hear it's going on because the stats about the crash certainly don't look like it should be considered a crash.

Do you get normal results when landing other aircraft?

Attention all pilots! If you have time - can you do a landing in the Grand Caravan with FSFS2009 2.2 and let us know the results? Any problems?

When an instructor says what you have reported it is because he or she figures the plane is a write-off, even if FS has not actually announced a crash. This can happen a fair amount in FS (no crash reported but you cannot fly the plane) and so we created logic to handle it. There may be something about the Grand Caravan that is misleading FSFS, but it has not shown before in tests.

Let us know about those other planes.

indeed I do get normal results. Another thing Mr Smith says "slow down so you can lower the gear." I don't have this problem with any other plane. Perhaps it is confused with a retractable gear plane.

I just did 2 landing with the Caravan, and although it's not my favorite plane, it worked ok for me.  I also made a 3rd flight with the failures settings to 60% and I was able to land without crashes.

Then for giggles, I did take off and landed extremely hard (ie tried to crash it) and I got the crash and NTSB popup, so I don't seem to be having difficulties....

perhaps my airspeed was too low upon touchdown? I tried a flight before, and got an 85.

I'll keep trying. Maybe its just a difficult plane to land just right.

Thanks for jumping into the cockpit and flying some test flights. This is much appreciated and greatly helps resolve these tricky ones.

It's all very odd. The instructor normally says this "I think you crashed the plane" when it is clearly a write-off as in... on ground, dead still, and banked 40 degrees - this sort of thing. It's not happening for us here in the Sinister Lab  nor for Joe at least, so perhaps there is something about your system which is different. We'll think about it...
