We have released a new version of FSFS2009. This is a free upgrade to existing owners of FSFS2009. Just download and install it.

FSFlyingSchool2009 Version 2.2 Released

FSInventions announces a new version of its FSFlyingSchool2009 add-on for FSX and FS2004. Version 2.2 introduces new features which are free to existing owners of FSFlyingSchool2009.

Get it here:

Crashes recorded in Log Book
The findings of the the fictitious National Aeronautical Safety Board are now recorded in the pilot's log book. These record the summary details of the crash and data on vertical speed, IAS, ground speed, engine(s) status, and lots more. These are of great help to the pilot who wonders why an aircraft crashed in Flight Simulator.
By popular request, the pilot also gets a record of how well the flight had proceeded up to that point.

New Hotkey
Pressing Ctrl Shift B provides handy data to the pilot who wants to know current: AGL (above ground level), ground altitude and also displays the count of errors (if any) that the instructor has noted in this flight. To the sharp eyes of these instructors, flying the wrong way for half a second counts as an error so these can add up fast!

Tips
The in-program tips have been greatly expanded to help pilots get the most from all of FSFlyingSchool's features.

Hi Ole, SL and all our other flightsimmers who enjoy FSFS.

I posted a note earlier but can't find it now, but I have some constructive, positive comments.

Firstly, I thought that this was a free upgrade for lucky owners of FSFS 2009.  I also thought that this included a new 172 panel.  I downloaded it, and noticed that there is a new box to enter the upgrade key, but I don't have the key.  So I scratched my head puzzling out whether there was a new 172 panel, or whether this would work with any 172, or whether I'd have to purchase it first.  The price is not a problem, its cheap enough, but I think the website needs to make these things clearer.  After navigating around I eventually found all the new Instructor Comments, which are great.   But I still don't know whether there are any new features, apart from the 172 comments, or whether its the identical 2009 package.  I think the website needs to be more easily navigated to show the benefits or the addon, and also if there are any benefits flying another plane.  I fly the Piper Archer, and seldom the 172.  Also, there is an "enabled Detail Pack" note under the "key" box, which I'm confused about.  If I've downloaded the new version, shouldn't something appear here?

I must admit that I didn't go to the forum first, to see the announcement and comments, but just downloaded it.

So, in a nutshell, as they say,

1. Is this version identical to my 2009 version, apart from the C172 upgrade?

2. Will it have any effect, flying another plane, or will it "think" its a Cessna and give the wrong information?

3. Must I purchase the upgrade to see it working?

4. Will it work for ANY C172 (You mention that it will, but I just need confirmation).

Having said all that, I hope you construe it in the right vein, 'cos, as I've said many times before, this is a stupendous product and has put a whole new perspective on my flying.

Stan

Stan - thanks for all your comments and questions - they are a great help to the FS community in general.

This product is unusual because it is an add-on for an add-on - there are not many of those around.

In brief:
- it is not free ($9.95) - this buys you a c172 detail pack key allowing you to fly with it anywhere
- it can be tried for free in the demo area - just download FSFS2009 v 2.3 and fly a c172 near Chicago O' Hare (KORD)
- it contains lots of new instructor logic and new phrases with which the instructors watch and speak to you specifically about the c172
- it has no effect at all if you are not flying a c172
- it is not an aircraft - not at panel - nothing we have not explicitly described
- it the c172 key works only with regsitered versions of FSFS2009
- version 2.3 of FSFS2009 contains the free demo of the c172 Detail Pack - nothing else is new

Now to your questions -

1. Is this version identical to my 2009 version, apart from the C172 upgrade?

It is identical to FSFS2009 v 2.2 apart from the c172 detail pack demo and field to enter the c172 key if you buy it.

2. Will it have any effect, flying another plane, or will it "think" its a Cessna and give the wrong information?

No effect unless a Cessna 172.

3. Must I purchase the upgrade to see it working?

No - fly a Cessna 172 in the demo area and you'll get the new "deluxe" treatment! As always - we let people try before they buy.

4. Will it work for ANY C172 (You mention that it will, but I just need confirmation).

Yes it will - note that as mentioned in the manual it is modelled on the most common one - that is - the Cessna 172 included with Flight Simulator itself. When using a 3rd party Cessna 172 product add-on,  the aircraft being modelled by the 3rd party may not be quite the same (a different variant of the Cessna 172).

There is a lot of extra information here

http://www.fsflyingschool.com/Features_Cessna_172_Detail_Pack.asp

and note that when you download FSFS2009 v 2.3 you now get the full manual for the FSFS2009 Cessna 172 Detail Pack.
