I've installed the demo version of FSFS. Also, I have FSX with the latest version of FSUIPC 4.40. It appears on my FSX Addon drop down menu so I would assume it is working properly. I have FSX in the proper default location (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\). In other words, everything is where it should be and working properly. The problem is when I try to start FSFS. I start FSX and get an aircraft ready to go at Chicago Midway. Then I click on the shortcut to FSFS. Immediately, I get an error indicating that FSFS cannot write FSUIPC.dll to FS2002 or FS9. If I am running FSX, check locations of directories, etc. I've tried reinstalling both FSFS and FSUIPC with no luck. I also checked the FSFS settings file and it is definitely looking in the right place for FSX. Any ideas on how to get FSFS to find FSX would be appreciated. Thanks
Mike

Do you have FS2002 or FS2004 on your system? It sounds like FSFlyingSchool has detected them and is trying to configure FSUIPC v3 for them.
If the following doesn't work then can you provide us with a copy of your FSFlyingSchool settings.ini file?
You should be able to edit the settings.ini file that will be located in your FSFlyingSchool folder.
If you don't want to use FS2002 and/or FS2004 then simply clear them, so it reads:
FS2002=
FS2004=
I've copied my entire settings.ini file below as an example.
John.
=================================
[FS Folders]
FS2002=
FS2004=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\
FSX=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\
FlightPlan=
[Pilot]
PilotFile=
[Misc]
TransitionAltitude=18000
EndFlight=0

Thank you John. Actually, I don't have either FS2002 or 2004 on my drive. But it seems the settings.ini was looking for them. I deleted the locations for those two in the .ini file and everything works great. Thanks again

stkhouse: I imagine you know your way around files and folders - can you simply copy the settings.ini file to a location in which you can edit txt files, and then edit it there, and then finally copy it back into the FSFlyingSchool folder on your PC, overwriting the existing version there. If the act of copying the edited settings.ini file back into your FSFlyingSchool folder fails, we must conclude this is a user persmissions problem surely?
