Hi flymehome:

I am sorry to hear you are having this problem.

Glad to help!

1. Is an error message displayed? If so then the fastest way to solve this is if you could send us a screen shot of the screen with any problem message on the screen.

This helps enormously as we can "see what you can see" and this will often tell us what the problem is without the need for any further investigation.

Please make sure the screen shot clearly shows any data you have entered and any problem message.

To send us a screen shot, press the Print Scrn (print screen) button on your PC keyboard to capture the entire screen and then PASTE that information into an email REPLY to THIS email.

To PASTE the screen capture, simply press Ctrl V while typing in the body of an email to us. The email will need to be in HTML format (not plain text).

Please send the email containing the screen shot which you send to us, to yourself as well, so that you can see if the screen shot is correctly shown in the email and that it is readable and clearly shows the problem you are experiencing.

If you have any problems doing this - you can always just take a picture of the screen with a digital camera and send us that picture. As long as the picture is clear we can use that!

2. There are lots of ways of running as admin - but please try this specific method...
Run FSFlyingSchool 'as an administrator'.
You should do this even if you are the only person who uses the PC and even if you are an administrator.
To do this, right click on the FSFlyingSchool icon, shortcut or menu item you use to launch FSFlyingSchool, select
'Properties' from the menu, select the 'Compatibility' tab, and turn ON 'Run this program as an administrator'.

Please let me know what occurs.

Shamefully I get no error. I hit connect flight school freezes then bombs out.

The way you have suggested to run as admin is how I have tried.

Is there anyway to get a debug mode.

Hi flymehome:

This may be an issue with the sound equipment if the FSFlyingSchool Voice Command is turned ON.

The problem may be that it is ON and something about the audio equipment has changed since it was working - and that change causes the error (which can be as simple as, for example, plugging back in a USB headset which was previously plugged in).

You should be able to go back to a state where FSFlyingSchool works - so we can test - by changing the settings.ini file in the FSFlyingSchool folder to say

[Voice]
Mode=0

which turns off voice command - then save settings.ini and then start up FSFlyingSchool again.

The error is likely related to a change in audio equipment or in the way it is configured in FSFlyingSchool.

This may be because Voice Command was turned on but was previously off.

It may also be related to the selection of sound card at the settings screen of FSFlyingSchool.

FSFlyingSchool will almost certainly work with only ONE of the cards listed.

The problem is often caused by the pilot having told FSFlyingSchool to listen to Voice Commands, but the correct sound card on the PC has not been selected at the FSFlyingSchool settings screen.

Please try different cards at the FSFlyingSchool settings screen and SAVE it each time.

Do you have any add-on sound equipment such as USB headphones?

We find in the few cases where this error has been noted that it can be solved by either returning the configuration of audio equipment and software on your PC to a previous state (which can be as simple as, for example, plugging back in a USB headset which was previously plugged in) or if no audio equipment or software has changed please try FSFlyingSchool but change the settings for the sound card at the settings screen in FSFlyingSchool if you have more than one sound card listed - it will almost certainly work with only ONE of the cards listed.

Please let me know how you get on and if you have any questions.
