Hello,
After installation and registration of FSFS 2020 I tried to generate runways data and I got the message "Run time error 424, object required". The software FSFSRWys.exe was running in the terminal but without output ...
Thank you for helping.
Best regards
gerodcray

PS - No problems when I installed FSFS 2019 a few months ago
- xp11.41 under W10 home

Hi gerodcray:

1. As always - make sure you have done this...

IMPORTANT! FSFlyingSchool should always be run 'as an administrator'.
You should do this even if you are the only person who uses the PC and even if you are an administrator.
To do this, right click on the FSFlyingSchool icon, shortcut or menu item you use to launch FSFlyingSchool, select
'Properties' from the menu, select the 'Compatibility' tab, and turn ON 'Run this program as an administrator'.

2. The error you have reported is caused by FSFlyingSchool having been given a file or folder name that does not exist, or did once but now no longer exists.

3. What is the exact folder shown at the settings screen of FSFlyingSchool for the "X-Plane folder"?

Hello,

Thank you for answering. I'm quite sure not having done the errors you mentionned. The XP11 folder path is "C:\Users\g_rio\Desktop\X-Plane 11\". I did another test which looks strange for me :

- My sceneries are managed via SM and most of them are located on an external drive E:\;
- If this drive E:\ is not connected the process for generating RWS data works very well (no error 424);
- If I connect this external drive containing a lot of sceneries with airports which are not necessarly in the standard base on C:\ there is again the error 424.

In both cases the X-Plane.rwy file seems to be OK (60720 entries in my configuration) but I'm not sure the file created without error 424 is a complete one.

Perhaps this complementary information is important to understand where the problem (if any) come from.
Best regards

Hello,
The way I use since many years now, first on W7 and now with W10 home, has always been the same :

- right click on the FSFS icon;
- in the panel displayed I chooze "run as administator".

Everything has always been OK when doing this and especially for the generation of runways data.

If I click on "properties" the compatibility panel gives the choice "run compatibility troubleshooter" and not "run as administator".

Did you account for my remarks ??

Best regards.

PS 1 Finally I clicked on the "run as administrator" in the compatibility panel (I'm so sorry not having seen it), but why was the way I used always before working well ? Is it exactly the same ?

Now it is OK but why the creation date of the X-Plane.rwy file is 12/4/2010 ?

PS 2 I guess this McAfee alert is not normal :

A virus tried to attack your PC, but we took care of it.
What we found:
Real Protect-EC!141E8D9C79828
Where we found:
C:\Program Files (x86)\FSFlyingSchool 2020\FSFlyingSchool.exe

This alert occured when running another time the runways data creation (no problem the first time).

PS 3 the exe file has been deleted by McAfee

Hi again:

We have found that it is always best to follow the 'run as administrator' instructions included in our installer program and manual exactly - this produces the best results.

>> PS 2 I guess this McAfee alert is not normal

I agree - that is very strange.

>> Did you account for my remarks ??

Certainly.

>> Now it is OK but why the creation date of the X-Plane.rwy file is 12/4/2010 ?

That is the date of the data we supply. The file has that date because it is the file we supplied with FSFlyingSchool.
