Hi Jeff,

Been away since my last post, and now back am still getting re-occuring problem.

I just did a flight in x-plane 11 with fsfs doing a circuit and still am getting no circuit score, evan though I am getting a landing score of 73.29 a glidescope of 80 and ils of 80 with overall flight score score of 85.65.

Yes I did every leg within the 6 min`s time bracket.

Did you ever get a solutiuon to this from last time we spoke.

Many thanks

John K.

Hi again John:

The puzzle here is that this has been used by FSFlyingSchool pilots for almost 12 years and, with rare exceptions, no one experiences problems with the scoring mechanism used in circuits - so this means that there is something exceptional about your circuits or indeed about your PC or installation of the simulator or of FSFlyingSchool.

Let's take a look at the one you are reporting and see what we can find.

Please copy and paste the entire Log Book description of that flight into a reply and also include any other information you can about the flight which is not shown in the Log which you think may be relevant, such as whether the runway was an add-on runway, etc.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for reply.

I concure it will be my mistake somewhere along the way.

I am not running fsfs with Administrator rights, not sure if this would make a difference.
Am using the cessna c172 in x-plane 11 with the add-on :Simcoders-REP-C172 Reality Expansionpack.
Am using exp pack to check condition of plane and then disabling it before startin g fsfs .
Am doing all control surface checks whilst also doing run up correctly.
Am using ctrl-shift-z to miss out taxiing
Am using ctrl-shift-space to record take off point.
Am using ctrl-shift- z to tell fsfs im moving to crosswind/downwind etc if fsfs doesnt recognise it.
Am confused at when to start descending as I have read I should turn onto base then descend to 500 agl(580 for egll), but when I do fsfs says im too low (when @ 500.
Am always told I lost the glidescope just before landing, but have found if I follow the glidescope right down to tdz im well past point of takeoff.
Excessive speed at low lAltitude...? not sure about this one.
Am using Steam X-plane 11.
Am Trying other Airports with same results
Am not exceeding 6 min time limit on each leg of circuit.
Am Confused,lol.

Here is

LightSpeed piloting Cessna 172 ended 07 October 2018 at 17:36
FSFlyingSchool 2018 for X-Plane 11 and 10 (June 9 2018)
Using: X-Plane
Visibility: 25.00 Miles Wind: 1 Knots

Flight plan: TO EGLL :London Heathrow NAV1: IAA
Flight Duration:00 Hours 10 Mins 57 Secs

Landing Score:73.29

Landing was successful in the following areas:
Good glideslope on ILS approach. [80%]
Good alignment with runway on ILS approach. [80%]
Gentle touchdown. [187 FPM]
Good landing speed - not too fast. [50 KIAS]
Wings were level.
Landed on runway surface.
Good pitch control after touchdown.
Good pitch at landing.
Heading aligned with runway.
Throttle(s) idle.
Good controlled final descent to touchdown.
Good steering after landing.

Landing included the following problems:
Glideslope lost before you flared - not your best effort.
Definite room for improvement...

Circuit Score:0.00....???

Circuit included the following:
Good Upwind heading.
Good Upwind altitude.
Good turn onto Crosswind leg.
Good Crosswind heading.
Good Crosswind altitude.
Late turn onto Downwind leg - turn Downwind on reaching 1000 feet AAL.
Good Downwind heading.
Poor Downwind altitude - maintain 1000 feet AAL.
Late turn onto Base - turn when circuit reference point is 45 degrees behind you.
Good Base heading.
Good Base altitude.
Late on Final - get onto final sooner next time.
Banking not too steep.
Landing too far from Circuit reference point.
Landing distance from Circuit reference point:619 feet.
Definite room for improvement...

Flight Score:85.65

Flight commended in the following areas:
Smooth turns.
Nice banking.
Comfortable G forces.
Smooth pitch control.
Flown within aircraft's maximum speed limit.
Gentle taxi turns.
Good take off steering.
Safe taxi speed.
Smooth braking during taxi.
Wings level near ground.
Well coordinated turns.
No stalls.
No flying dangerously close to stall speed.
Smooth comfortable descent rate.
Pitch not too high.
Approach speed not too fast.
Good clearance of obstacles.

Flight included the following problems:
Late rotation - when Vr is reached - take off.
Loss of altitude during takeoff - climb smoothly.
Nose held too low - we're not in combat.
Excessive speed at low altitude - several complaints have been filed.
Definite room for improvement...

I presume I have achieved the scores necessary to move onto circuits else I would not get Guidance from fsfs on the circuit ??.

Any thoughts , Would be very appreciated.

Hi again John:

>> I am not running fsfs with Administrator rights, not sure if this would make a difference.

To save your time - it's not worth experimenting so please do this as described in the installer...

IMPORTANT! FSFlyingSchool should always be run 'as an administrator'.
You should do this even if you are the only person who uses the PC and even if you are an administrator.
To do this, right click on the FSFlyingSchool icon, shortcut or menu item you use to launch FSFlyingSchool, select
'Properties' from the menu, select the 'Compatibility' tab, and turn ON 'Run this program as an administrator'.

>> Am using the cessna c172 in x-plane 11 with the add-on :Simcoders-REP-C172 Reality Expansionpack.
Am using exp pack to check condition of plane and then disabling it before startin g fsfs .

I cannot recommend any additions until you have achieved your goal. Your goal is a circuit score, so I still recommend the default c172 without any possible complications (even though you have REP disabled).

>> Am doing all control surface checks whilst also doing run up correctly.
Am using ctrl-shift-z to miss out taxiing

I take this to mean "In order to advance to take off mode."

>> Am using ctrl-shift-space to record take off point.

Understood.

>> Am using ctrl-shift- z to tell fsfs im moving to crosswind/downwind etc if fsfs doesnt recognise it.

This is not correct. This key sequence controls the flight mode. Doing what you have described will tell the instructor you are doing something you are not actually doing if pressed while take off still has a way to go (if you are not at cruise altitude yet).

After take off, you advance the flight mode when you enter cruise (level flight).

If you fly an ILS approach (as you did here) you must stay on the ILS glideslope. Just follow what is shown on the instruments in the plane you are flying. If this takes you down to a point that is well past the circuit reference point, then you need to set the circuit reference point to a where the glideslope takes you when you enter circuit mode at the start of the entire process. Make a note of where the ILS takes you and start there next time.

If you LAND considerably beyond, or short of the circuit reference point, you circuit score will simply be zero, regardless of the other factors of your flight and landing.

>> Excessive speed at low lAltitude...? not sure about this one.

Likely related to being in cruise mode while actually taking off due to incorrect flight mode (see above).

>> Am using Steam X-plane 11.
Am Trying other Airports with same results
Am not exceeding 6 min time limit on each leg of circuit.
Am Confused,lol.

Understood.

Correct!

Hi Jeff,

Just to let you know I cracked the case & got my first circuit score of 71.92.

Spent the last week and a half learning how to correctly Trim Aircrafr, how to add a payload & tweak the centre of gravity to achieve a good straight & level cruise and have become more proficient at trimming by having the Data Output box in x-plane 11 showing in the top left corner ( this helped tremendously).

Am very grateful to yourself for all your help and patience,

Many thanks.

John K.
