A few years ago I bought FSFly. 2011 but could not make it work properly so I let it lie in the drawer. But now I would try again - just "quick start" - but nothing happens after both FSX and Flyingschool are started after all instructions in the manual.
The FSX is monitored and the data has been processed and so are the runway data for FSX!
The pilot are the light one, Mr. Smith - and the fly a Cessna 172, placed on the runway ready to fly. All before start of the School.
All seems to be alright.
As recommended, the FSX isn't paused on task!
But there don't seem to be any "teacher" home
What can be wrong?

Best regards
Jorgen

Hi Jorgen:

I am sure we can get you up and flying with us!

Firstly - let's make sure everything is being done as it should be...

This is the procedure you must use to run the FSFlyingSchool program...

. Quit all programs.

. Launch FSX.

. Get into the cockpit of a plane. Do not quit FSX.

. Return to Windows desktop and launch FSFlyingSchool program.

. Press connect in FSFlyingSchool.

. Press ALT TAB to switch back to the FSX program - which is still running.

. If FSX is 'paused' press P in FSX to 'un-pause' it.

. Go flying in FSX with FSFlyingSchool!

Note - some folks prefer to run FSX in "Windowed" mode so it is easier to see which programs are running. You can move in and out of this mode by pressing ALT ENTER while in the cockpit in FSX.

If you are doing all of this and you are not hearing the instructor...

- When you press "connect" does the button change to "disconnect" as it should?

- Do the sound files play when you press "Listen to instructor" at the Aircraft screen of FSFlyingSchool?

- Turn on the text captions at the Pilots screen in FSFlyingSchool before you connect. Are they displayed on the screen in FSX? (This would indicate that the instructor is talking but you cannot hear him/her for some reason).

- Have you done this exactly as described (text taken from the manual)...?
IMPORTANT! FSFlyingSchool should always be run 'as an administrator'.
You should do this even if you are the only person who uses the PC and even if you are an administrator.
To do this, right click on the FSFlyingSchool icon, shortcut or menu item you use to launch FSFlyingSchool, select
'Properties' from the menu, select the 'Compatibility' tab, and turn ON 'Run this program as an administrator'.

Thank you very much for your kind answer!

Well, I have done most of want you suggests - except for the text at the pilots screen, which I can't find??

Anyway, I have tried once more and get this message:

Run-time error '-2147023728 (80070490)':

Automation error
Element not found

Do you know, what this means?

Best regards Jorgen

Hi Jorgen:

Please make sure you have performed the steps exactly as stated in my last post regarding running FSFlyingSchool as an administrator.

The error is related to audio equipment.

From your reported data the most likely cause is related to the selection of sound card at the settings screen of FSFlyingSchool.

Have you changed the sound card specified there?

If you have - please try different cards at that screen.

Do you hear sound played correctly when you press the 'Listen to instructor' button at the Pilots screen in FSFlyingSchool?

Do you have any add-on sound equipment such as USB headphones?

We find in the few cases where this error has been noted that it can be solved by either returning the configuration of audio equipment and software on your PC to a previous state (which can be as simple as, for example, plugging back in a USB headset which was previously plugged in) or if no audio equipment or software has changed please try FSFlyingSchool but change the settings for the sound card at the settings screen in FSFlyingSchool if you have more than one sound card listed - it will almost certainly work with only ONE of the cards listed.

The option to display text captions is at the Pilots screen of FSFlyingSchool - marked "Display captions in simulator" - turn this ON.

Please let me know how you get on and if you have any questions.

Dear Jeff
Thank you once more for your kind and very fast responce - and help!

To day I have good news and bad news. The good news is, that everything seems to work perfect - and the bad news is, that I'm not ad smart as I thoght I was:-(

There is, however, a little thing that is still mysterious - I cann't find "Display captions in simulator" on the pilots screen??

I have taken a screenshot of the page in FSFS and tried to put it in this answer as a attachments, but I do not know if I succeeded!??

It is not that important, so if you can't see it, just let it go!

Once more thank you for your patience!

Best regards
Jorgen

Hi Jorgen:

Excellent news to hear that it's all working!

I apologize - I lost track of the fact that you are using 2011, which is back before captions were added to FSFlyingSchool so this is not a feature of the product you are using.

Good news - a HUGE amount of features has been added to FSFlyingSchool since 2011.

Be sure to visit our web site and check out all the new additions to our new FSFlyingSchool Pro 2018 - packed with loads of new features - including - Taxiway Tutor, Weather Tutor, GPS Tutor and Autopilot Tutor.
