A few days ago I upgraded to the Pro Pack with the Taxiway tutor addition; (I previous had a rather old version) and today I purchased the weather pack. I’ve yet to even try the taxiway tutor, but considering that the program is so well designed and so incredibly feature-rich, it was an automatic purchase. I’m still getting to grips with the program, but needless to say, it simply exudes quality, workmanship and is incredibly helpful in all aspects of flight.
My weakness is GA aircraft. I’ve spend an incredible amount of time flying heavies as they are my first love. Learning to program the FMC (and the other complicated aspects of heavies) took more time that I’d care to admit. However, I now have them aced and need help with non-heavies. My first few flights with Mr. Smith have been a real eye-opener! I thought that I was doing okay with them, but that was because there wasn’t anyone critiquing me. 
Now my question.
Is there any way that I can save specific selections? For example, I set the “I have yoke pressure/ I use rudder” etc. When I check them they hold for the current session, but when I restart FSFS and FSX, they revert to the defaults. I can understand the logic behind this since it allows one to tailor each session with different variables, but for a few of them I’d prefer if they’d remain on all the time. Is there an .ini file (or something similar) that I can edit?

Many thanks for your feedback and kind words about FSFlyingSchool. We always greatly appreciate folks who take the time to do this. 
Good news - the program design is that all the user's settings are saved, so if they are not being saved, something needs to be looked into... 
The most likely reason is that the pilot has not SAVED the settings as the Pilots screen in FSFS. This must be done before exiting the program. If the pilot makes changes and does not save them, the pilot is told this if he/she exits the program.
Less likely is that an error occurs when the data is being written to the hard disc, but this would be displayed in front of you and I imagine this has not happened?
Please try changing the values, pressing SAVE at the pilots screen, exit the program and then start it up again. Your changes should have been preserved.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It's working perfectly now. I hadn't used the save pilot button after making changes. I'd set a name and an avatar and assumed that's all I needed to do there. After reading your message I clicked on the little question mark at the top of the box and it was clearly explained so my bad for not reading the instructions.  I believe that most guys, when they purchase a program, just want to jump in and try it out and leave the majority of the manual reading until later. It's not a good practice, but it's a pretty common one.
Oh, I do want to add this. The ability to see your flight on Google is awesome! I just love that feature.

And I'm glad you like the Google Flight Map feature - I always think it brings the thing just that little bit more to life. And provides a nice history of your pilot career.
As for the manual, yes I know what you mean. These days folks are accustomed to installing a game and jumping right in without having to do something so old fashioned as 'reading a manual'!
What follows is intended to help all readers get the most from FSFlyingSchool...
"Reading a manual? Are you kidding?!"  This is a view some folks share with us from time to time.
As one can imagine, we try our best to make the program as simple and intuitive to use as is possible with a complex subject like aviation.
Nevertheless, the program has so many functions and features which even a CFI or rocket scientist will have never encountered before, plus a huge number of options, that as a result, reading the manual must be an essential part of, if nothing else, getting the best value for time and money.
